o I! i 11 MX Page 6 Section 2 I.E.Ronne,88 Dies at Home On Thursday Thorwald Engstad Ronne, 88, who had been in IH health since last October, died at his home at 280 North 18th St., Thursday. A retired interior decorator, Ronne had been a Salem resident for 12 years. He was born Jon. 21, 1869, in Oslo, Norway, and at the age oi live years came 10 me United States and Minneapolis, Winn., with his parents. Ronne spent his youth in Min neapolis and in 1892 was married there to Anna Mayo, who died In 1948. A son, Edwin May Ronne, also preceded him in death, being killed in an airplane crasn in new York state in 1928. Moved to Montana In 1B99 the Ronne family moved from Minnesota to ChinooK, Mont, and Ronne e n g a g e d in sheep ranching there. They left Montana in 1925 and went to Cheyenne, Wyo., where Ronne owned and op erated a sign shop. It was from Santa Cruz, Calif., where Ronne operated an auto court, that the Ronnes came to Salem. Since a young man Ronne had been painting landscapes and also portraits and in the past several vonrn had devoted much lime to this. He had had several showings of his paintings, Including one in Salem in March, 1954. One ot Ronne's paintings now hongs In the Montana Historical Society museum, Survivors Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Albert! Flynn, a niece from Montana, who had been residing hero with her uncle, and Harvey D. Ronne and Chesley R. Ronne, Solem. Other nieces and nephews live In the Portland area. Services will bo held at the W. T. Rigdon chapel Saturday aft ernoon at 1 o'clock with Rev. E Dwight Russell officiating. ' Hileman, a late resident of 175 West Judson St., was born at Van couver, Wash., and came to Salem as a youngster. Surviving are his wife, Mrs Pauline llileman, Salem: a son, Howard Hendnekson, Grants Pass; and a nephew, E. C. Purvine, Sa lem. Announcement of funeral serv ices will be made later by the uougn-uarricK cnapei. Death Comes to Arthur Ramsay MOLALLA (Special)-Arthur D Ramsay, 72, resident of Route 2, Mo a a. died in Silverton Wednes day afternoon alter an extended Illness. Mr. Ramsay was born in Mis souri April 8, 1884, and hod lived in Oregon many years. He uvea In Portland, tho Dalles and Hood River before coming to Molalla in 1952. While at Hood River he was caretaker and watchman for Hood River Apple Growers association. He was a member of the Seventh Day Advcntist church. He is sur vived by his wife, the former Ser rena Dc Hart, whom ho married at Hood River March 27, 1950, and one sister, Mrs. Harry Rigdon, Kansas City, Mo. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Molalla Chapel of Everhart and Kent with the Rev. Kenneth McVuy. pastor of the Molalla SDA church, officiating. Interment will following in Adams cemetery at Molalla.
