Anderson, assisted by Mrs. Josef Schnclker through narration and music. The writings of Howard Thurman, Negro leader and dean of (he chapel of Boston university are the basis for the program. On Tuesday, March 12, Ihe Portland Symphony orchestra, under Theodore Bloomfield, returns to Salem for its third and last concert of the sea son, under the sponsorship of the Salem Symphony society. Carrying on Its tradition of preserving a va riety of music, the orchestra will play three very different compositions. Opening the program will be Rossini's Overture "L'ltaliana In Algeri." Feature piece of the evening will follow, with the premiere performance In Salem of Bcla Bar Ink's "Concerto for Orchestra." Written near Ihe close of his career. Ihis concerto is considered to he one of his mellower works, though It may sur prise those hearing it for the first lime. Horn in Hungary in Hull, llartnk died in New York In HI45.
