Mrs. Lester Stringer is, in charge of the affair and will be assisted by Mrs. Ralph McAllister, Mrs. Leota Sipe and Mrs. Paul Scharn. A program is planned with Charles Moore giving the welcome. The girls trio. Rosemarv Boat- wright, Sharon Robertson and Dorothy Schneider, and the boys quartet, Bill Peterson, Vern Moore. John Robertson and Jerry Seeger will furnish the special numbers. Mrs. Milbre Sipe will have charge of the songs and devotions. Silverton Gives Polio Fund S1000 SILVERTON (Special) Tom Myers, chairman of the 1957 March of Dimes campaign for the Silverton area, has announced the grand total raised to be $1,000.59. The Silverton Rotary club mem bers were the most successful "panhandlers" among the service clubs, raising $180.50 and close be hind with $125. R5 was the Ameri can Legion. Other organizations and, the amounts raised were: Rainbow assembly, $86.01; Lions club, $40.81; Silverton Hills Grange, $0. The containers in the downtown businesses netted $121. 64, the city schools, $99.60, liver green school, $9.82 and the climax of the campaign, the P T A Mothers' march gleaned $312.36. Phil Heinonen. former owners of the Amity Drug store, left Mon day, for a two week vacation with plans to tour California and Ari zona. He is a graduate of the 1954 class of Woodburn high school and won a scholarship to Harvard. 4-H Club News The Jordan River, subject of arguments between the Arab and Israeli forces, is known as the "Down-Comer" in Hebrew. It is 700 feet below sea level at the Sea of Galilee, and finally empties in to the Dead Sea, 1,286 feet below the level of the Mediterranean. AMITY (Spceial)-Tho 4-H Will ing Workers Livestock club met recently in the Amity high school homo economics room. The meet ing was called to ordor by presi dent, Tom Burns. Reports wore presented by Ken Dixon and Sharon Smith. The forthcoming 4-H dance Feb. 23, in the grade school gymnasium was discussed and two commit tees appointed were entertain ment, Gene Dixon and Richard Cranncll: refreshments, Mrs Richard Fuller, Mrs. Joe Burns and Mrs. Frank Adams. Four-H leaders of Ihc Washing ton school met at the home of Mrs. Dale Mallicoat this week lo prepare plans for the spring show May 1-5 at Meier and Franks. Lenders present were Mrs. Arn old Cagnet and Mrs. Frank Per- low. assistant, for the Merry Bak ers: Mrs. Harvey Page, and assis tants. Molalla The February meeting of Cedardale Farmers union is slated for Saturday at 8 p.m. in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Art Kayser. Burt Searl, delegate to the state farmers' convention at Sa lem, Feb. 7, 8 and 9. will give a report of the convention. Hubbard The Hubbard Firemen are sponsoring a Valentine bene fit dance Saturday night at the Hubbard city hall. Music will be furnished by the Silver Wood Play Boys. Molalla Molalla DoMolays now are meeting in a different place. in the VFW hall, Instead of the Grange hall where they had met since their institution here. Their meetings are every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Tho DcMolay Mothers club meets every second Tuesday also, while the boys meet. They are planning the annual Irish slew dinner 'or March, to be served in the VFW hall this year, Siotts Mills The Scotts Mills Grange is sponsoring a benefit danco at the city hall Saturday. All proceeds will go to the Owens family. Mr. Owens recently had I leg amputation. The Rich Brothers orchestra will furnish music. The public is invited. projects and are awaiting the 4-H fashion show. Bowlers to Dine MOLALLA (Special) - At a howling meeting recently held in Ihc Lloyd Bystrom home, tho wom en planned the annual bowling din ner lo he Friday evening, Muy 3, in Molalla VFW hall when various awards will be presented the play ers.
