The senior court will entertain at a luncheon honoring the Junior court on Sunday afternoon, Febru ary 17, in observance of National Junior CDofA week, February 17 24. The luncheon will climax the initiation program beginning at 2 o clock in the school meeting room, and concluding with serv ices and benediction in St. Mary's church, when 22 new members who have been provisional members for the last three months, will receive their junior emblems. The com mittee in charge of the luncheon includes Mrs. Alfred Bernt, Mrs Vincent Smith, Miss Helen Kcber Mrs. Wilbert Schaecher, Mrs. Rob ert Fronk, Mrs. James Holfer, Mrs. Arthur Berg, Mrs. J. J. Pen ner, Mrs. Alcuin Annen and Mrs. Alice Kroll. The hostess committee appointed in charge of the social for mem bers planned for Monday evening February 25, includes Mrs. Joseph Bernt, Mrs. Math A. Beyer, Mrs. Carl Ertelt, Miss Louise Butsch, Mrs. David Traviss, Mrs. Howard Goldsby, Mrs. Albert Uhing, Mrs. Joseph Borschowa, Mrs. Albert Wilde and Mrs. Alois Humpcrt. A report was given on the re cent benefit food sale and jam and jelly shower at which $46.55 was realized from the food sale and more than 100 jars of jam and jelly were collected for the Bene dictine Sisters Nursing home. Mrs. George Vachter was general chair man of the committee in charge. Relief for peace chairman, Mrs. Alois Keber, reported that there is still a great need for used cloth ing for overseas relief and she will continue to use her home as a receiving place for the articles. During the last week she packed 13 boxes of clothing which will be given to the Rev. Alcuin Heibel, OSB, for Hungarian relief. A report on home and family life was presented by Mrs. E. A. Hammer, chairman. Mrs. Rudolph Laible received the attendance award. Mrs. J. A. (Azita) Ken nedy of Klamath Falls, Oregon State CDofA treasurer, is a patient at the St. Vincent's hospital, Port land. The local degree team members will give the presentation of de grees at the initiation ceremony for court Christ The King at New berg, February 22. Future events of interest to members is the State CDofA con ference scheduled at Albany, April 27-28; and court initiations for Court Capital City, Salem, Sunday February 17; and Court Multno mah, Portland, February 24. Food News Topic at Woman's Club Program SILVERTON (Special) - Stress ing, reader-appreciation of the edu cational value of the food page of a daily newspaper, evaluating the different foods and manner of serving of various countries of the world, and supplementing her trav el tours by the showine of a series of pictures, were the highlights of the talk given by Miss Maxine Bur en, Salem, Monday afternoon at the regular meeting of the Silver ton Woman's club at the Trinity Lutheran fireside room. Mrs. Earl G. Dedrick, president, directed the program. Mrs. Glenn Briedwell, a Silver ton Woman's club past president, brought to the attention of the members certain legislative ac tions and asked members to con tact their representatives in the state session as to their disapprov al or approval. "Outlaw cheap lit erature was stressed. Mrs. Briewell recommended edu cational reference bills, particu larly those that had to do with the library organization in the state and the standardization 're quirements of librarians. New members accepted were Miss Vera Poulson, Mrs. Alvin Hartley, and Mrs. R. R. Main Guests were Mrs. Alvin Legard and Mrs. James Libner. Serving during the social hour were Mrs. Charles Hoyt and Mrs. Grace Jack. Mrs. E. A. Finlay. Mrs. Alf 0 Nelson, Mrs. Pearl Woods and Mrs. E. A. Kern, arranged the program and social hour. The arrangement chairman for the March meeting of the club will be Mrs. Floyd Fox. . followed the business session, re freshments were served by Mrs, Henry Zollner, Mrs. Gordon Aman and Mrs. George Stupfel. Mr. Peterson Feted On Birthday by Star WOODBURN (Special) The birthday anniversary of Leif Pet erson, worthy patron of bvergreen chapter No. 41, Order of the East tern Star, was celebrated during recess at the regular chapter meeting Monday night at the Ma sonic temple. As the family of Mr. Peterson came from Norway a his tory of that country was read by Mrs. Peterson, worthy matron, who also read the birthday horo scopes of the year. The program in honor of the worthy patron was arranged by. Mr. and Mrs. Don Tabler and was entitled "This is Your Life," modeled on the Holly wood version and bringing out many incidents in the past life of the honored member. He was presented with a gift from the offi cers and a decorated birthday cake. Initiation was set for March 25. Invitations were read to receptions for grand officers at Tualatin chapter, Hillsboro, March 2, and at Naomi chapter, Dallas, March 9. Friendship night was announced for the next meeting, February 25. In the attendance contest the roup with Mrs. Lester Henn as captain was declared the winner. A no-host supper will be served by the losers, with Mrs. Edward Heiden as captain, February 23 at 6:30 p.m. to be followed by a so cial evening with a program and games. Refreshments, including the birthday cake, were served by Mr. and Mrs. Ivan C. Beers and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Beckford. Valentine decorations were used in the chapter room and the dining room. Log cabins centered the tables. MOLALLA (Special) Neighbors Pastime club enjoyed its annual club family dinner last week in the Molalla Veterans of Foreign Wars hall, with about 70 present for the no-host dinner. The club furnished turkey and ham. Di versions of the evening were card- playing and games. OCE Schedules New Art Exhibit MONMOUTH The Oregon Col lege of Education art department will present two combined show ings of paintings, pen and ink sketches, and water colors by Helen Trayle of Portland and Palmer Byrkit of Sheridan, in the OCE art gallery, Feb. 22 through March 16. Both of these artists have been active in various art groups in Oregon for many years.
