All presidents and first vice presidents of local BPW clubs arc invited also. The state legislative chairman, Mrs. Harold D. Peterson, Dallas, and legislative chairmen from lo cal BPW groups, will be hostesses, Auxiliary to Aid Local Needy Family Salem Memorial Hospital auxil iary has purchased an isoleltc and rocker bed for the pediatrics ward at the hospital, it was announced at the auxiliary meeting, Monday. Plans were made for the annual ailvcr tea set for April 9 at the Robert W. Gormsen home with Mrs. John R. McCullough and Mrs. Sam. R. Haley as co-chairmen or the event. Auxiliary Activities For Hospital Told . Marion auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in its business ses sion Monday evening at the VFW hall heard a report from its re habilitation committee on the work that is being done to aid a family in Salem where the father's ill ness has brought destitution. Need for a chest of drawers, used cloth ing and bedding was indicated by the committee to further its work. Announcement was made that at a meeting at the homo of Mrs, Clarence Forbes last week the tewing project for the Baby Louise Haven was advanced through the assistance of Mrs. Vernon Glass, Mrs. Miko Becker and Mrs. John M. Jardtnc. At the next' meeting of the aux lliary on February 25, Pringlc Blue Bird, which is sponsored by the auxiliary, will present ono of its model meetings as a portion of its program for honors during the year. Mrs. W. L. Burnett is leader of the Blue Bird group. The program to honor the out going district presidents and com manders originally scheduled for February 25 has been postponed to March II. Salem, Woodburn and Silvcrton will join in the district meeting. Mrs. Harriet Johnson, of Dallas, was named representative from the auxiliary to the Federation of Patriotic Orders of Salem dinner Friday evening at the Marion hotel. Plans were made for a dinner for the Marine Corps Reserve on March 6, with Mrs. W. L. Barnett as chairman. The dinner will be given at the VFW hall. ANNOUNCED for Wednesday night, February 27, is a benefit party to be given by the Welcome Wngon club. The nflnir will be nt 8 o'clock In the Mayflower hall. The organiza tion is for newcomers. The group each year adopts some community project to assist and the benefit will be for the project. I clove garlic irrushedi, 1 can 18' ounces t lomato sihut, 1 can 13 ounces) sliced mushrooms, xi ton-1 spoon salt, pepper. ti'nspuon j sugar, teaspoon chili powder, 1 1 tablespoon catchup. la teaspoon i Worcestershire sauce, 4 ounces spaghetti, 3 quarts boiling waler, 2 teaspoons sail. Method: Heat olive oil In 10-inch skillet; add onion and cook genlly until lightly browned about 5 minutes. Add beef nnd crushed garlic; mash with fork tines over high heat until crumbled and beef loses red color. Add lomato sauce, mushrooms i including liquid in can), ' teaspoon salt, pepper to taslc, sugar, chili powder, catchup and Worcestershire sauce. Sunnier about 10 minutrs. Meanwhile cook spaghetti in boiling water with 2 teaspoons salt unlil jusl tender 10 to 15 minutes. Drain and serve with meat sauce. Makes 2 very large servings. Miss Judy Pengra was appoint ed chairman for friendship night of the bethel which will be ob served February 25. A number of the members vol unteered to assist in the Heart Fund drive on Heart Sunday. Elected as delegates to the grand session in Portland, April 11, were Miss Colette I nomas of btayton, and Miss Linda Berry, Practice for the grand session was an nounced for February 24, at 3 o'clock, at the Scottish Rite tem ple. All officers and the choir members will participate in the practice. , Mrs. Warren Baker ana William L. Shrivcr, both members of the grand council of the bethel, were honored on their birthdays. JWClub Hears Talk Chaplain John M. Humphreys on the staff of the Oregon state hos pital spoke at the meeting of the Junior Woman s club at the sa- lcm Woman's club house Monday evening on the relationship of men tal health and religion. The sub ject of especial interest to the club die to its financial assistance of the Haven School, Inc., was pre sented as a program of the men tal health and religion department of the club. Mrs. Dean Allport and Mrs. Elmer Winegar headed the program committee. Mrs. Kenneth Limbockcr and Mrs. Winegar were announced as co-chairmen for the Junior Wom an's Valentine ball on Friday eve ning, February la, at the Knights of Columbus hall. The club voted to sponsor a spe cial project this year in tho Kid die Karnival on June 22, which will tako the place of the annual club picnic. Mrs. George W. Dew ey, Jr., and Mrs. Clark Carlton were appointed as co-chairmen for the program in June. Decision was made to enter the IGA community project sponsored from Chicago. The announcement was first re vealed last night at dinner at the Alpha Phi sorority house on the Oregon State college campus when the traditional box of candy was passed. Mrs. Randall accompanied her daughter to Corvallis for the din ner. No date is set for the wedding. Miss Randall was graduated from Salem schools and attended Oregon State, receiving her junior certificate at Christmas time. She is now employed in the state police office at the Stale House. Mr. Mc Laren is a senior at Oregon State and is affiliated with Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
