Other newly installed officers arc Miss Pat Hughey, worthy as sociate adviser; Miss Joan McCoy, charity: Miss Judy Atwood, hope; Miss Marcia Bryant, faith; Miss Janice Mendenhall, chaplain; Miss Carolee Haenny, drill leader; Miss Sharon Remington, inner observer; Miss Joy Smuck, outer observer; Miss Linda Baylor, choir director; and Miss Jeannette Carlson, pianist. Rays installed were Misses Peggy Harris, service; Linda Bay lor, patriotism; Vada Robertson, fidelity; Diane Aaron, immortal-j ily; Kathy Wells, nature; Betty Brett, religion; and Melissa Agee, love. Garden Club Installs INDEPENDENCE An event for the Independence Garden club was the installation of the officers for the new year. The officers installed were Mrs. Ralph Evans, president; Mrs. E. R. Grantham, vice president; Mrs. Zora Embree, secretary, and Mrs. Harrison Brant, treasurer. The Installing officer was Mrs. Carl Groth. A report from Mrs. T. D. Pom eroy in regards to assisting the city in landscaping the swimming pool was given. The standing com mittee chairmen gave their annual reports as well as the officers. The program chairman, Mrs. Es tella Fluke, announced the June meeting will be in the Pythian hall dining room at 7:30 p.m. and Mrs. Grover Mattison is the hostess chairman. The subject will be on roses, and the speaker is to be announced later. A no-host luncheon followed by a plant safe and white elephant auction preceded the business meeting. Riha-Foster Rites INDEPENDENCE Of inter est to their many friends is the marriage of Miss Vera Foster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl j Foster, to Paul Riha, son of Mr. , and Mrs. Adolph Riha. The wed-; ding took place at Stevenson, Wash., Saturday, May 12. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Riha of Cascade Locks were hosts to the wedding supper following. Mr. and Mrs. Riha are now at home in Independence. Family Picnic Given WOODBURN A picnic was! given at the home of Dr. and Mrs. T. K. Sanderson recently honoring the mothers of the family and the first birthday anniversary of Kim Erik Olsen of Tacoma, Wash.,1 grandson of the Sandersons. i Present were Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
