Washington Mothers Install Officers at Thursday Meet EAST SALEM A musical pro gram and installation of new offi cers were special features of (he program for the last meeting of the school year of Washington School Mothers club meeting at the school Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Dale Alallicnat, a past president, installed the following officers: president, Mrs. Fred Anunsen Jr.; vice-president, Mrs. Carl Komyatc; secretary, Mrs. Herbert Aplijgton, and treasurer, Mrs. James Dc Laney. Each was presented with a corsage. Committees announced for the new year are: ways and means, U.S. Girl and Greek Romeo Finally Wed ATHENS, Greece Wl Elaine jrilton of Dnyton, Ohio, and her Greek Romeo - by - mail finally made it to the altar yesterday. Their nine-month correspondence courtship nearly went on the rocks w'len Elaine's mother brought ab duction charges against Sideris. Elaine, 22, fell in love with John Sideris, a 31-ycar-old fishmonger, after seeing his photograph in . Dayton. They became engaged with her parents' approval after corresponding for nine months and jMaine came to Greece, with her mother to see him. After arriving. Mrs. Milton changed her mind and decided the marriage was off. Elaine fled to John, and Mrs. Milton brought ab duction charges. Mrs. Milton dropped the charge after the pair insisted they were In love and blame showed police documents attesting her father, a Dayton restaurant owner, ap proved the match. The couple were married in a small suburban church while Mrs. Milton looked on. Auction Buyer Turns a Profit HOLLYWOOD Ifl lec cream vendor Mark (Lucky) Marlatt popped into an auction of the furn ishings of the old Hollywood Hotel, paid $12 for two chairs Rudolph Valentino once sat in, and then asked the auctioneer: "Okay . if 1 sell a little ice cream?" Within a few minutes, Marlatt was cHng a thriving business in the lobby of the hotel which will so n be torn down. "I ll have those chairs paid for in no lime," he said and, as it turned out, he was rijht. The retiring president, Mrs. Gor don Davidson, was presented with a gift by the club members. Beginning the musical program were numbers by the third graders of Mrs. Lorna Nash and the first grade of Mrs. Clarissa Glenn, English songs were sung by the second grade of Miss Margaret Henley and Rhythms were pre sented by the fourth and fifth grade of Miss Eva Wolfe. The sixth grade chorus, under the direction of Lawrence Miller, sang several special numbers. The members of the chorus were dressed in new white robes pur chased by the club and made by a volunteer group of mothers of the club. Brief talks were given by repre sentatives of youth groups the club sponsors: Mrs. u. u. ueip, tne Blue Birds; Mrs. Max Ncttleton, Camp Fire Girls; Cub Scouts, Mrs. 0. T. I)gan and 4-H clubs, Mrs. Anunensen. Camp Fire girls sang two num bers and each group displayed work accomplished throughout the year. A committee was appointed to purchase a tea service set for use by the club with a portion of this year s funds. The treasurer, Mrs. Gemmcll, reported a balance of $165. Attendance awards for mothers present went to the rooms of Mrs. Glenn and Mrs. Otto. Fol lowing the meeting a voluntary silver lea was conducted to pre sent Miss Henley, the school's ex change teacher, who will return to England this summer.
