Germany (A The first large scale shipment of heavy arms equipment from the United Stales for West Ger many's armed forces arrived today aboard the U. S. trans port Kingsport Victory. He was one of the organizers and is now a director of the Oregon Horsemen's Association. During his eight years as Assistant Secretary of Slate, many of his ideas for the betterment of service to the people of Oregon were put into effect. William Healy Is married. Both he and his wife, Mary, have long been active In Republican organizations. William Healy was manager of the Ashland Chamber of Commerce in 1947 when he accepted appointment as Assistant Secretary of State. Prior to that he successfully managed the publication of trade magazines. Until he entered World War II, he spent 12 years as a newspaper reporter on leading Washington dailies. He was the state publicity director in Washington of Thomas E. Dewey's first presidential campaign. The Oregon Voter, in its April 14th issue, said of William Healy: "Relations with legislators, other stale offices and state employees excellent; efficient in his official capacity; was source of good will for Secretary Newbry administration."
