A. Arnold Axilrod. Minneapolis ' dentist charged1 with strangling a young -voman patient. Before them was a choice of six possible verdicts guilty of first degree murder, second degree murder, first degree manslaugh ter, second degree manslaughter, acquittal by reason of insanity and outright acquital. The state charged Axilrod stran gled Mrs. Mary E. Moonen, 21, and threw her body into an alley after she threatened to "expose him to the world" as the father of her unborn child. Axilrod was ar rested the day the body was found, . April 23. Police witnesses testified the dentist acknowledged doing some dental work for Mrs. Moonen the night of April 22, leaving with her in his car at about 9 p.m., "black ing out" when he became angry over her accusations, and arriving home shortly after midnight. Lawrence's announcement came a short time after the union re jected a new contract proposal by a vote of 800-5S4. The proposal would have given the men a four-cent hourly pay increase immediately and another five cents an hour hike next May l. About 1,590 trolley and bus oper ators are earning $2.01 under a contract which expired last April. Some 700 other workers have been paid J1.5S to $2 11 an hour. The union, which reportedly seeks a 10-cent an hour wage boost, had no immediate comment on the strike postponement. Lawrence declared; "The strike is off. I have sub-; milled a plan to the company and the union that is an amendment of the offer which was turned down last night.
