shooting of a calf and a subsequent
highway accident.
State police and sheriff's deputies
said they were called to the scene
of a one-car accident early Sunday
morning. At the scene they found
Allen Howard Spiccr and Russell
Solle, the wrecked vehicle and the
skinned-out carcass of a calf.
Police said Spiccr and Solle ad-
milted that one of them had shot
the calf but it was by mistake
they said. They were attempting
to spotlight a deer and mistook the
calf for a deer, they told officers
They intended to pay the owner
for the calf, they stated
The owner of the calf declined
to press any charges, police .spid,
so the two men' were arrested on
charges of hunting game animals
with the aid of a light. Spiccr plead
ed guilty in Slayton Justice court
Wednesday and Solle pleaded guil
ty Thursday. They were fined !00
each by Judge Walter Bell.
