Salem Businesses
Entered by Thieves
Burglars broke into two neigh
boring businesses early Monday
morning but apparently got only
about $15 for their efforts.
Entered were the Cherry City
Milling company and Wieder's Sa
lem Laundry n the 200 block o!
South High street.
The safes in both places were at
tacked, city police said, but entry
was gained only to the milling
company safe. The $15 was missing
from there in the form of $10 in
change and $5 in bills. Only the
innev door of the safe was locked,
police indicated, and the lock to
that was punched out by the
thieves. Entry to the building was
through a window facing a neigh
boring parking lot. '
The knob and dial were knocked
alt the laundry company safe and
a hole punched through behind
the dial bat the punch stuck in the
door at that time and the burglars
apparently couldn t get it out. of
ficers said. Nothing was reported
missing from the laundry, either
in money or clothes, police said.
Method of entry into the building
was undetermined.
