The highlight of the local year is to be the official visit to Sil- verton Tryphena Rebekah lodge of the state president of the Re bekah assembly, Mrs. Edna Brad Icy, on June 23, for the regular meeting. During the social hour, mem bers whose birthday anniversar ies are from January through June, were specially compliment ed at tables centered with a dec orated cake, and were served by Mrs. J. A. Monson, Mrs. Ger trude Moen, Mrs. L. Meyer, Mrs. Ernest Southmayde, Mrs. Rex McCurdy and Mrs. Wilbert Pe ron. As a budget builder for buying new robes to be used in the de gree work, the Triple Link club members sponsored a "silent auc tion" during the social hour, net ting $16.65. Mrs. Chancy Beesley and Mrs. I. L. Stewart greeted the guests. Mrs. James Taylor and G. E. Weatherby arranged the hall and table decorations in early sum mer flowers and greenery. Mrs. Will Kreng invited the members of the Triple Link club to her country home on Wednes day evening, June 22, for a 6:30 picnic supper and a social eve ning. All members and friends ere welcome to attend. Silver Anniversary MONMOUTH The silver wed ding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lauerman was observed at a party at their home west of town recently with seventy-five guests calling. The party was ar ranged by their daughters, Misses Margaret and Eileen Lauerman. 'Cutting the cake were Mrs. Henry Alsip and Mrs. Harold Elkins. Mrs. Harold Lane and Mrs. Lynn on Elwell served punch, Mrs. Ivan Williams poured colfee and Arlha Adair had charge of the guest book. Couple Are Wed SHERIDAN Mrs. Pearl Sit ton and Waldo Flynn of McMinn ville were married Wednesday evening at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. S. James Osborne in Mc Minnville. Following a plane trip to Washington, D. C, and Maine, the couple will be at home in Mc Minnville. The bride is the moth er of Mrs. Winer Melonuk of Sheridan. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. James Wright and Mary Lee; Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Smith. Ivalyn and Dennis, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Burgess, Debby and Duane, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hurst, Ronald, Cinda. Susie and Steven; Mrs. Elka Kuiken and KaUileen; Miss Norma Miller, Mrs. Alice Huber, and Mrs. Wirth. Hillman-Tibbs MOLALLA In a double-ring cer emony performed Saturday after noon, June 4, at 2:30 o'clock, Miss Ruby Tibbs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Tibbs, was married to Larry Hillman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hillman, all of Mo lalla. The Rev. Karl J. Durdel offi ciated at the ceremony performed in Grace Lutheran church. Only immediate relatives of both families attended. The bride wore a pastel blue knit suit, with white accessories and a white orchid corsage. After a brief honeymoon trip, the couple will be at home in Mo- lalla. Both were graduated from the local high school, the bride a member of the class of 1955. Duo Wed Recently AMITY Miss Jean Robertson. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Robertson was wed to Keith Tay lor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henrv Taylor, June 1. in Vancouver. Wash. The bride wore a sold colored suit with white accessories. Mrs Merle Stephens. Fairview. and Jimmy Robertson, brother of the bride, attended the couple. Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Robertson, mothers of the couple were present. The couple will live in Salem. Sisterhood Chapter - To Meet on Tuesday WOODBURN The final meet ing of the season for Chapter J of the P.E.O. Sisterhood was Thursday evening at the country home of Mrs. Carl Magnuson. Mrs. Frank Doerfler presided. Plans were discussed for the an nual rummage sale to be in the fall to finance the P.E.O. local scholarship. The committee in charge of publicity is Mrs. James Lamb, Mrs. Lloyd Froom and Mrs. Estella Kerns. A picnic for members and families will be, in Settlemier park August 11 with the social committee in charge, including Mrs. 0. L. Withers, chairman, Mrs. Lloyd Eroom, Mrs. Ivan C. Beers, Mrs. Charles Cornwell and Mrs. Paul Mills. Mrs. Nellie Muir was in charge of the program for the evening and gave a report on outstanding books of the year with excerpts from each. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Magnuson. The next regular meeting of the group will be September 22, with Mrs. Kenneth Thompson as hostess, To Tell of Trip WOODBURN Mrs. Ray Glatt will talk on her recent Euro pean trip at the meeting of the Woodburn Garden club, Tuesday evening, June 14 in the library club rooms at 8 o'clock. Mrs. A. G. Cowan is program chairman. Roses will be the theme of the meeting and roll call will be answered on "tips on raising roses." Horticultural specimens will be roses and flower arrange ments will also be roses. The hostess committee includes Mrs. W. J. Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. John Cornwell. Visitors are welcome. SHERIDAN Mrs. Roseada Haenny and Eugene Small were married Friday, June 3, at the parsonage of the Wilshire Meth odist church in Portland, by the Rev. Everett H. Gardner. The couple will be at home in Sheridan. Mr. Smail has been employed in Roseburg. Couple Observe 60th Anniversary MONMOUTH Mr. and Mrs. Frank Powers were honored at an open house recently on their 60th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Delmar Powers of West Fir, a daughter-in-law, presided at the coffee urn assisted by Mrs. Emma Parker. At the punch bowl was Mrs. Nelson Powers, daughter-in-law of Wichita, Kansas, and assisting was Mrs. Hugh Smith. Mrs. Anna Riddell served the cake. Members of Mrs. Powers' Sunday School class as sisted. The couple renewed their vows before the Rev. Lynnton Elwell, and after the ceremony Mrs, Earl Jaynes sang. Mr. and Mrs. Powers were married in Palouse, Wash., June S, 1885. They have lived here for 17 years.
