Corvallis Special Oregon State's two new men's lodges were dedicated Sunday. Keed Lodge and Heck art Lodge were dedicated in honor of Kdwin T. Reed and Mrs. Zelia Heckart. respectively. Both the two honored were active around the Oregon State campus. The new living groups for men are an experiment in small-group dormitories providing low-cost liv ing. Each lodge can house 60 men. "Schizophrenia." the alt-school dance sponsored by the freshmen took place Saturday night. Eyes of all kinds and shapes hung from the ceiling and watched from the walls as the students danced to the music of Ben Shepard's Can dlelitmters. The big event for the week-end j as well as the term will be the I Junior-Senior Ball honoring the Class of '55. The queen, chosen from one of the five finalists, will be announced at the Saturday night dance. Finalists are Jennie Calagna, representing Alpha Phi; Joan Paine, Pi Beta Phi; Sue Skelton. Alpha Chi Omega; Joan Kid, Kappa Kappa Gamma; and Patty Daum. Kappa Alpha Theta. Music will be provided by Tony Pastor's orchestra for the ''Au tumn Nocturne" prom. Good news for the students was the announcement by the dean of women that there would be 2 o'clock closing hours after the : prom as an experiment. The change from 1:00 a.m. closing will make it possible for students to stay for the entire dance and still he able to go to a restaurant after wards. Wednesday an all-school convo will be singed. The speaker will be the well-known writer and pro fessor Richard Armour. He is the author of "It All Started with Co lumbus," one of the 13 books he has written. The Oregon State football team again suffered defeat, this time at the hands of the Nebraska Corn- huskers. The score of 27 to 7 did not dampen the Beavers' spirit, however, and they will be fighting for victory against UCLA this Sat urday in Parker Stadium. Federated Music Group Meets Friday Salem Federated Music clubs associate members will meet on Friday, October 22, at 10:00 a.m at the home of Mrs. James Ha- worth, 2776 Alvarado Terrace, to make plans for the Christmas musicale sponsored each year by members of the Federated Music clubs. The musicale will be on De cember 5 this year in the Blind School auditorium with Mrs. James Ha worth as general chair man. Mrs. Vernon Wiscarson is co-chairman and Mrs. Lynn M. Hammcrstad has charge of the decorating with Mrs. David Eason arranging the musical program. Through these Christmas musi cales the Salem Federated Music clubs have made available to a music major at Willamette uni versity, a scholarship award to he given each year. The pro ceeds of this year's event and of future tens will be used to make a similar scholarship availahle to some olher Oregon school featur ing the study of music.
