Speaking will be Dr. Howard Runkel, speach professor at the university. Commencement exercises will take place May 30 at McCulloch stadium . weather permitting. i This week-end the seniors -will Journey to the beach for their an nual outing. Bob Howe of Camas, Wash., is in charge of prepara tions, and about 50 class members will, attend. Appointments for the 1955 Wal- Iulah staff were made this week by new editor Bill McKinney of Salem. JoAnn Pym of Seattle, Wash., will be assistant editor;' Loyal Howard of" Salem will be layout editor; Judy Mortz of Bur- lingame, Calif., will have charge of the index; Sally Jones of Par land, Wash., is copy editor; and Bruce Cleckert of Salem is dark room manager. This year s Wal- lulah will arrive May 29, and the dedication was made to Dr. and Mrs. G. Herbert Smith. The new Rally Squad for next year was chosen this week. Yell Queen will be Marilyn Waterman of Bend, and Roberta Sjoding of Salem: Pat Beckwith of Port land; and Marilyn Parker of San Carlos, Calif. Yell King is Ted Primrose of Gladstone, and Jim Jones of .San Bruno, Calif.; Skeet Shepherd of Salem. -Bettv Jean Wilson of Salem member of the' senior class and a Chi Omega, received a gradu ate-scholarship to the University of Florida recently. Jane Notson of Portland - an nounced her engagement to Cliff Gregg of Upland, Calif., Wednes day night at the Pi Beta Phi house. Miss Notson Is a senior maiorine in art. and has been out standing in her campus -activities. She was editor of the Wal lulah last year. Gregg, a gradu ate of Willamette,, is now in the Army stationed in the east. . The couple have planned an August wedding. '' ' A DAUGHTER,;' who' has.. been named Dianne Elizabeth, was born Friday morning, May 21, at Salem General hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Don E. Phillips. There is also a son in the family, Don. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William L. Phillips, sr., of Sa lem and Dr. and Mrs. Robert Fisher- of Portland. Mrs. Dan Welsh of Salem is a great-grand mother. SILVERTON- Miss Delores Hanson, a member of the eighth grade graduating class of the Evergreen' school,, was compli mented at a family reunion of relatives at the home of her par ents, the Monroe Hansons, fol lowing the school program. A bride of mid- May was Miss Jeanne Marie Bloom, Seattle, Wash., who was wed to Marvin Frank Rapp, Se attle, Wash., Saturday, at 3 o clock in the afternoon, ine bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth F Bloom and the bridegroom's parents are .'Mr., and Mrs. Frank A. Rapp of Ar lington, Wash. The wedding took place at the home ot tne Driae's parents with the Rev. Morton L. Booth, pastor-of the First Pres byterian church, reading the double ring service. , . Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride was attired in a white brocaded satin dress made with long sleeves and a skirt end ing in a full train. The finger tip veil was of tulle and was held in place by a white satin, pearl trimmed Juliet cap. The wedding dress had been worn by the bride's sister, Mrs, Thomas P. Bays of Salem. The bride car ried a white orchid surrounded by stephanotis. Mrs. Thomas P. Bays, Salem, was her sister's only attendant She wore a yellow lace and tulle dress, ballerina length, and car ried a bouquet of coral daisies with yellow net backing. Quentin W. Rapp, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Witnessing the ceremony were nearly forty-five relatives and close , friends of the bridal couple, : For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Bloom chose a navy bluff crepe dress with which she wore an orchid corsage. The bride groom's mother wore a delft blue crepe dress and her corsage was also an orchid. After the ceremony a reception was at the Bloom home. Decora tions throughout the room con sisted of pink camellias, lilies of the valley and orchid sprays. The orchid corsages and sprays were airmailed here for the wedding from Honolulu by Mrs. Agnes B, Vance,' aunt of the bride. The bride s table was decorat ed with pink candles and pink flowers surrounded the wedding cake. Presiding at the table were Mrs. Gilmore Hector. Mrs. Neva Andersen and Mrs. W. Walter Stuart The bride's cake was cut by Mrs. Clara Heineman, aunt of the bridegroom. Serving were Mrs. Piatt A. Davis,' Mrs. Richard Handley, Corvallis and Miss Anne Drysdale. Miss Nancy Davis passed the guest book and the bridegroom's cake was passed by Dick and Kenny Bays, nephews of the bride. The bridal couple left on wedding trip by automobile for Carmel, Calif. For going-away the bride wore a plum colored wool suit with navy blue acces sories and a light blue topcoat. Completing her costume was a white orchid corsage. After June 1 the couple will be at home in Seattle. FROM ALEXANDRIA, Va., comes word of the arrival of a daughter at the home of Lt. Cmdr. and Mrs. John A. Lind beck. The little girl is Mary Kate.
