Fair Weather
Reigns in U.S.
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Fair and mild weather a good
chance for the ground hog to see
hi. shadow continued Tuesday1
in nearly all sections of the coun
try. There were a few cold spots,
Northern New England, the. North
ern Great Lakes region and in sec
tions of the Rockies. Legend has
it that there'll be six more weeks
of cold weather if the ground hog
sees his shadow. If he doesn't win
ter is on the way out.
But it was like winter in Main
and New Hampshire Tuesday with
sub-zero readings. One of the low
est marks was 9 degrees below
zero at Houlton, Maine.
Only a few wet spots were re
ported. Light snow fell in Southern
New Kngtand. Light showers hit
sections of Kentucky, Texas and
Washington. There was fog west
of the Rockies, with the heaviest
reported in the Northwestern
states.
Temperatures Monday ranged
from a high of 89 at Thermal,
