Paperboar'd Mill
To Be Rebuilt
LONGVIEW, Wash. Ill - Mark
Andre, Los Angeles manufacturer,
announced Tuesday the partial
purchase rt the Pacific Paper
board Co. of Lonfview. He laid he
plana to build a paperboard plant
here.
Andre, owner of the Andre Paper
Box Co., Lai Angeles, said the
new plant would be erected on the
site of one destroyed in a I nuuion
dollar fire Jan. 11. 1951.

The burned-out plant was owned
by Pacific Paperboard, which re
ceived 1,800 000 in insurance mon
ey but was prevented by the Re
construction Finance Corp. from

Andre said he could not five a
definite date for the start of con
struction until completion of an
engineering survey. He said he
also holds an option on the pulp
mill which bas been Pacific Paper
board's sole operation sine the
fire.
The amount Involved In the
transaction was not disclosed. The
onl figure listed was 72,700 paid

Gas Hearing
Recesses Again
WASHINGTON 11 - The Pacific
Northwest Natural Gas hearing
resumed briefly Tuesday, then re
cessed again until Wednesday.
W. C. Spooner, chief geological
witness for Westcoast Transmis
sion Co., was in the Power Com
mission hearing room but attor
neys recommended another 24
- hour delay to permit his complete
recovery from a cold which stalled
the resumption ot tne Hearing
Monday.
Meantime, E. A.-HugiU, assist
ant secretary of the Shelly Oil Co.,
New York, identified a letter of
intent indicating willingness to
dedicate to Westcoast Natural Gas
underlying certain Alberta acre
age. Rival attorneys moved to strike
both his testimony and the letter,
however, when HugiU said he was
unable to testify concerning infor
mation which the letter contained.

WASHINGTON IB-Harold Stas-
aen, the government s foreign aid
chief, has disclosed an administra
tion decision to permit wider trade
witn communist countries in non
f trategic items.
But he said Monday that the gov
ernment has put an even tighter
clamp on trade In strategic mater
ials and goods.
Stassen emphasized that Commu
nist China still is out of bounds
for all trade and that the new pol
icy applies only to other Red areas.
He said such products as cotton,
rubber, drugs and pharmaceuticals
no longer are banned for shipment
to Communist customers.
