doing their bit toward helping
Santa fill his- pack for children,
not have too many gifts.
The pack, numbering 48
boys, at its last meeting donat
ed 248 toys to be given to the
Salem Exchange club for re
pairing for Christmas Jilts for
.children, who might not be re
membered at Christmas time.
At their meeting at the West
Salem Methodist church Friday
night the boys will bring wrap
ped gifts, not to cost more than
fifty cents, for youngsters at
the Children's Farm Home at
Corvallis. Scoutmaster for the
pack is Stanton Zelmer.
Cornelius Schar of
Silverton Passes
Silvertoa Cornelius Schar,
74, a resident of the Silverton
community since 1880. died
Friday morning at the Patter
ton Rest Home in Silverton.
Mr. Schar was born in Bluff
ton, Ind., March 19, 1879. the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
Schar. He was one of a family
of seven children. They came
to the Silverton area in 1880
and have lived here since.
Mr. Schar is survived by two
sisters. Miss Josie Schar and
Mrs. Martha DeSart, both of
Silverton; and one brother, Al
pheus Schar, Silverton.
Funeral announcement will
be made later by the Ekman
Funeral home.

ville for Arlington Ernest
Broadwell, 53, of Amity, killed
Monday, Deeember 7. when he

fell into a mill grain bin at
Ballston.
Btoutlwell apparently fell In-,
to the 22 toot deep grain bin'
while checking the flow of
grain about 4:45 p.m. Cause of
death was a broken neck and
suffocation.
Mr. Broadwell was a mem

lodge No. 1283; a member of

Jay William Woll, 22, who died
in a McMinnville convalescent
home. Services were held at the
Sheridan Funeral Home with
Rev. Earle Terry in charge, and
interment was in Green Crest
Memorial park in Sheridan.
Mr. Woll had been in ill
health the past several months.
He wis born June 23, 1931 in
Sheridan and lived most of his
life in the community. -
Survivors are his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. George Woll of Sheri
dan; a sister, Doris Woll of
Sheridan; two brother, Paul
and Rodger Woll of Sheridan;
and his grandparents, Mrs and
Mrs. William Bates of Sheridan.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon lion on its
first birthday.
It started as a prank but the
moo grew quickly. Street fight
ing, paint throwing and fire

two nours to break up the riot
and open the traffic lanes.
