While there they experienced
the recent ash storm from the
volcanos.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Strike
have been spending the month
of July at St Helens at the
home of their son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ken
neth Asburry, and have been
assisting in harvesting the
strawberry crop while Mr. As
burry has been in a hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Kilian Smith
left last Sunday by plane for
Chicago where they will at
tend "International Harvester
Parade of Progress.' Smith, a
local International Harvester
dealer, won the expense-paid
trip through sales of machinery
at his store. ' They are expected
home this week-end.

returned from a car trip Into
the Canadian Rockies. They
spent a week at Victoria, B. C,
then visited Banff and Lake
Louise and into the Jasper and
Banff national parks. They

trip.

the air force and stationed at
the Fairchild base in Spokane,
Wash., has been visiting at the
Lester Henn home for the past
two weeks and also with his
brother-in-law and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Dennis Coville, in
Salem.
L. B. Detweiler of Woodburn
underwent surgery at Salem
Memorial hospital Monday. He
expects to be able to return
home this week-end.
