night of swearing falsely when
he told a Grand Jury in 1951
he had never represented Re
construction Finance Corpora-
tion (RFC) loan seekers.
Young, 46, is an older brother
of E. Merl Young, a central
figure in an investigation of
alleged Influence and favorit
ism in RFC operations who was
convicted of i perjury March
31.
A U.S. District Court Jury of
nine men and three women
convicted Herschel Young on
one of five charges of perjury.
The lury had reached no ver
dict on two other charges but
was discharged when William
A. Paisley, the chief govern
ment prosecutor, agreed to dis
miss these counts. Two remain
ing charges were dropped by
the government before the case
went to the jury.
