In Scout Circus With approximately 2,000 Scouts and Cubs taking part in the production and with some 3,000 persons in the stands, the annual Cascade area Boy Scout circus presented a colorful scene at Waters field Saturday night, Boys from many troops, and packs of Linn, Polk and Mar ion counties were in the parade that preceded the circus and were in line when members of the Salem Lions club, sponsors of the show, served the youngs ters their Saturday evening meal. "Jungle Tales," an addition to the show this year, captivated the large audience of mothers. dads and friends of the Cubs who appeared in characters rem iniscent of fairly tales, hobgob lins and the like. The balloon burst, another new event, in which the boys en deavored to blast the small bal loons attached to each other, aroused considerable amuse ment. Keizer troop 41, St. Joseph's 6 and Tangent 99 won first, second and third places, respectively in the Cubs division of the parade Among the senior Scouts, Keizer Explorer troop placed first and Sea Scout Ship 12 second. The St. Joseph troop took the chariot race during the perform ance at the field. Second went to Monitor No. 62 and third to Oakdale 36. J. Frederick Melvin, dis trict superintendent of the Methodist church at Bloom- ington church at Bloomington, 111. The baby is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fornrick and sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. James F. Carpenter. Rev. Mr. Melvin came here after attending a national Methodist meeting in San Francisco. Before the ceremony Dr. Seth R. Huntington, First Con gregational pastor, remarked: "For the first time in my experience I am about to of ficiate as deacon, and I do so with relish." Kidnaped Seattle Girl, 13 Year Old, Found Unharmed Seattle (P) A kidnaped 13- year-old girl, whose abductor left a crude ransom note demand ing $4,000 in her parent's mail box, was found terrified but ap parently otherwise unharmed north of the city limits early Monday. She was Linda Lambeth, daughter of Mrs. William L Carlin. Auto Wreck Victim Silverton Joseph and Jacob Doerfler were called to Rose Lodge Sunday to be with their sister, Mrs. Charles Oleson (Mina Doerfler). whose son. In the mailbox was a crude scrawled note which read: "Your daughter has been taken into captivity. For her we wish $4,000, delivered to this address, 1373 Lake Washington Boulevard. Both of you wish to see her again ever. Detective Sgt. Austin Seth said the address was non-exis tent. At her home, the child sobbed out her story. She said her stepfather, an electrician, gave her a letter to take to a mailbox about 7 p.m. Sunday. As she approached the mailbox, she said, a man grab bed her from behind and pulled her into a "fairly new, very dirty" gray two-door sedan. She described him as from 25 to 35 years of age, wearing a baseball cap and a Hawaiian type shirt. He made repeated at tempts to attack hr, she said, but she fought him off. Finally, she was knocked unconscious by one blow, she said. They drove around the city's North End for several hours, she related. They went to Ever ett .and back to downtown Seattle. The man repeatedly told her:: "I need money." Finally he let her out of the car and she remembered walk ing some distance.
