Four Killed, 50 Injured In Auto Racing Accident Dayton, Ohio, (U.R) Eyewlt n esses said Monday that a race car driver apparently misjudg ed his speed on a turn before he hurtled into a crowded grand stand, killing four persons and Injuring 50. Charles E. Sarver, one of the Injured spectator in the acci dent at Dayton Speedway Sun day, said the red and white rac er driven by Gordon Reid, 29, Burbank, Calif., zoomed over his head like "an artillery shell." Rcid, a father of four, and Mrs. Ruby Kllen Shaffer, 43, a spectator from Springfield, Ohio, were decapitated. Po lice said the other dead were Gene Lawson, 19, and Rob ert Thatcher, 22, both of Day ton. Thatcher, a special policeman at the track, desperately tried, to push away a woman spec tator from a guard rail when he was killed, other policemen said.
