He filed for Democratic nom
ination as state senator from
Multnomah County Wednesday.
Earlier Pearson had annbunced
ie would not seek re-election as

Six Persons Die in
Movie House Fire
Guadalajara, Mexico W) Six
persons died Wednesday night
when fire broke out near the
screen of the Alamedo movie
theater, then spread to the rest
of the buildings.
Patrons on the ground floor
of the building escaped, but one
exit from the balcony became
jammed with terrified fans ty-
ing to reach the streets. Six
bodies were found near the door.
Some were trampled and some
burned.

ney's 41 Vi today. But, she con
fesses, she refuses to hide the
fact because she likes being 40
better than 20, anyway.
Many a middle - aged movie
queen occasionally shifts her
birth up a notch and takes up
young men and poddle hair
cuts. But the tiny Miss Sidney
Insists she'll always tell the
truth about the number of can
dles on her birthday cake.
"Women who try to hide their
age just call atentlon to it," she
shrugged. "Why lie about it? I
don't feel any younger ... I
don't look any younger.
"Somebody finds out about
your age eventually. It's easier
to be frank about It."
Besides she went on, she
wouldn't go back to being a
naive 20 for a couple of Oscars.
"People who are very young
get emotional about them
selves," she said. "They're In a
constant torment. When you're
in your 20's, you think you're
mature and important.
"In the 30's you're just be
ginning to grow up. By the time
you're 40 you're just beginning
to get your foot in the door of
life.
"I've enjoyed every age In
my life. I've never wanted to
go back.
"But there's an overemphasis
on age in this world. Youth Is
a wonderful thing, but our pat
tern of life is to emphasize ev
erything youthful. The pressures
brought on men and women in
their middle years aren't good.'

of the firm of Hrubetz & Bush
