Many Plan To Attend Big Game The big game for the stale at Eugene Saturday afternoon, Oregon v. Oregon State, will draw a large group from Salem. the week-end also being annual Homecoming for UO alumni. Mr. and Mrs. P. D. Quisen- berry and Mr. and Mrs. Brey man Boise are among those going to the game and they will be guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Hixson. Dr. and Mrs. Vern W. Miller nd daughters also will be among those taking in the game, their , older daughters, Misses Joan Marie and Margaret being students at UO and OSC, respec- tivey. Mr. and Mrs. Lauren Gale are others joining the crowd attend ing the game, as are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Potts, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Waterman, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Roth. Among stale officials taking in the game will De uovernor and Mrs. Douglas McKay; G. F. Wood (Wilma Jean Dowding) were married at a four o'clock ceremony on Oct. 28 at the Methodist church. The ceremony and following re ception in the church fireplace room were attended by 200 friends and relatives. The couple will live in the suburban section north of Lebanon. (Hise studio) Mr. O'Malley Talks To Lions Auxiliary Virgil T. O'Malley, stale peni tentiary warden, was guest speaker at the annual West Sa lem Lions auxiliary banquet Monday night, at the Knight Memorial church. Husbands of the members were guests and Mrs. Clyde Ev erett, president, presided as mis tress of ceremonies. Rev. Harold Black gave the invocation. Entertainment was provided by Harry Miller, Mrs. Larry Flagg and Cummy Reid. Mrs. Robert Fo-stc-i was entertain ment chairman. Mrs. Junior Eckley was presented with a past president's pin. A short account of his back ground was given by Mr. O'Mal ley in his speech. He outlined in detail his plans for maintaining new prison policies and conclud ed his talk by a question and answer period. A short business meeting was held, and it was voted to send Christmas gifts to two tubercu losis patients. Mrs. Dick Smilh, Mrs. Wal lace Carlson and Mrs. Axel Jo- cobson were taken in as new members. The next meeting will be the annual Christmas party at the home of the Elmer No.'zi.igers. Rebekah Event Plans for homecoming night on November 26, were discussed at the regular business meeting of Salem Rebekah lodge No. 1, Monday night. Mrs. Marion Curry gave art interest ing travelogue on her trip to Bermuda. Next meeting of the club will be December 4. Rehearsal Dinner Several students from Ore gon Slate college came Tuesday night for a buffet dinner given before the wedding rehearsal of Miss Patricia Powell and Lester L. Clark, whose marriage is be ing solemnized at 8 o'clock to rt i g h t in the First Christian church. The dinner, given at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Hollenberg, was at tended by Miss Nancy-Beal, Miss Mary Adams, Miss Joanne Mar vin, Miss Carolyn Cash, Thomas Roberts, Larry Beals, Jerry Doyle, and William McCormick, John Deis and Wesley Ashworth, all of Corvallis. New Guild Formed In Methodist Church A Junior guild was organized at a joint meeting of the Marion Lela Norris and Susannah Wes leyan Service guilds, Monday evening in the fellowship room of the First Methodist church. The meeting was opened with a prayer by Miss Adeline Wilson. Miss Laura Linton, president of the Susannah guild, had charge of the meeting and introductions of guests and members. Two vocal selections were given by Mrs. Ervin W. Potter, accompanied by Miss Jessica Kinsey. Miss Kinsey also played two piano numbers. Guest speaker for the meet ing was Mrs. Everett Faber from Central Point, Ore., secretary for Oregon conference Wesleyan Service guilds. Mrs. Faber talk ed on the responsibility and purpose of guild members, their full financial support of eight missionaries, four for home work and four for foreign work; the enrichment of spiritual life, prac tice of world brotherhood, and the highest use of our leisure time. Mrs. Faber organized the Jun ior guild with 15 charter mem bers present. Officers for the year are Miss JoAnn Yeager, president; Miss Marion Sayre, vice president; Miss Jeanette Scheidle, secretary; Miss Phyllis Haberly, treasurer.
