The bride-to-be is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter E.I Martin and is employed at the Salem Memorial hospital. Mr. Lawrence, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Lawrence, has been in the service the past several months and is stationed at Camp Stew art in Georgia. The engagement of the young couple was announced last year. Skogland-Kreidt Aurora A wedding Sunday afternoon at Hope Lutheran Church for the Deaf in Port land, united in marriage Mrs. Clara Kreidt, daughter of C. P. Hngen of the Riverside district, Canby, and John Skogland of Spokane. Mrs. Ernest Becke of the Union Hill district, north of Au raro, was matron of honor tor her sister. The Rev. George Ring officiated in the presence of j more than 150 people. Herbert Foss of Portland was best man for Mr. Skogland. Mrs. Alan Johnson of Seattle sang. Ushers were Kenneth Hagen and Harold Rife. Richard Cooke played the wedding music. At the reception afterwards Mrs. Royal Cooke, sister of the bride, cut the wedding cake. Mrs. Alfred Hagen of Molalla poured coffee and Mrs. Kenneth Hagen served punch. Assisting was Mrs. Myrtle Braden. Mrs. George Carr had charge of the guest book. Harvey, in Indianapolis, and while there will attend the wed ding of a niece, Miss Diana Har vey and Richard Jackson on September 1. Method: Allow egg white to gland out of refrigerator so it will be at room temperature: It will give greatest volume this way. Beat egg white and salt with rotary beater (electric or hand) until peaks form that tip over slightly when beater is slowly withdrawn. Beat in sugar gradually nnd thoroughly, told in prunes a little at a time, then lemon juice. Spoon Into serving dishes; chill. Makes 2 servings. Women LOWRY FISCHER Spinsters Business Meeting on Monday Spinsters club met for a busi ness session Monday evening, Mrs. John P. Maulding, Mrs. Roy Edgerton and Miss Jean Pickens entertaining the group at the Ralph H. Cooley home. Plans were discussed for fall activities. A report was made so far $260 has been realized from the recent benefit dinner spon sored by the patronesses for the club funds. The September 10 meeting will be at the home of Mrs. John S. Beakey with Mrs. Roger Schnell, Mrs. Richard Gahlsdorf, Mrs. Robert Elgin and Mrs. Robert Strebig as the hostesses. Birthday Event For Dr. Findley Honoring Dr. M. C. The group attended morning services in the First Methodist church together in the morning. The dinner was served in the gardens at the Lockenour home. Wedding in Chicago Announcements have been received by friends telling of the marriage of Donald Peffer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Peffer, 1975 Hollywood drive, to Suz- ann Wallers of Chicago. The ceremony took place July 21 in the chapel of the First Methodist temple in downtown Chicago. The bridegroom is now em ployed by oaks Fifth avenue store as a decorator. He has been in Chicago studying for the past four years and will enter college again in the fall to complete his course at the Chicago Art Insti tute and Chicago university. The bride Is a graduate of the Art Institute. CREDIT WOMEN'S Break fast club met for an educational program, Tuesday morning. Miss Velma Strain, Mrs. Daisy Chance and Miss Ruth Robinson put on the program, showing the work ing of the credit bureau In credit reporting. Eighteen atended the meeting. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Lambert of Dallas and Mr. Wright is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Wright of Dallas. (Lyman's phol'o, Dallas). . . , I VICC fK Recent Bride Albany One of the season's largest weddings was that of Miss Bonita Beverly Vick, daugh ter of Mr., and Mrs. Bernard W. Vick, Albany, formerly of Salem, and Haddon William Robinson, New York City, on Saturday, August 11, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at the First Baptist church. The Rev. James W. Neely read the double ring serv ice. Mr. Robinson is a son ot vvilliam A. Robinson Now York City, N. Y., who came here for the wedding. Given in marriage by her fath er the bride wore an ivory satin dress made with cut-away skirt disclosing rows of net ruffles in front; the tight princess-cut waist coming to a point in front and back, with satin-covered buttons and loops on the back. The bride wore her mother's wedding veil of silk net made full length. She carried an arm bouquet of red roses tied with red satin streamers. Miss Terry Stoutenborough of Wheaton, 111., was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Elaine Widmer, Miss Bet ty Clausen, Miss July Pollock and Mrs. Gordon Schrenk. The dresses of the attendants were made on Identical lines of pastel shades, and each wore lace trim med mitts and carried an arm bouquet of harmonizing flowers with satin streamers. Miss Darla Northey was the flower girl and wore a blue ruf fled frock and a bandeau of blue satin ribbons in her hair. She carried a pink basket filled with rose petals John W. Jordan acted as best man and those who ushered were Gordon Schrenck, John Hardy Jimmy Neely and Bob Clausen. Lighting the candles were Miss Lillie May Muller and Miss Jeanie Gilbert, Oswego, both cousins of the bride. Mrs. Lyle Fosmark was the organist and also furnishing the wedding music were Mrs. Benton Schrenck, Lebanon; Miss Bar bara Howard, Miss Mary Motely, and Mrs. James W. Neely. Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors. The re ception hall was decorated with pink and white streamers ar ranged from the walls to the center of the room. The receiving line stood In front of a white lattice trimmed with greenery. Baskets of pink and white glad ioluses were arranged through out the rooms. On the bride's table was t thrce-tlered wedding cake sur rounded by a circle of pale pink flowers and green ferns. Presid ing at the table were Mrs. John W. Jordan, aunt of the bride Mrs. Arie Grotenhuis, Albany, assisted Mrs. Jordan in serving the wedding cake and Mrs. Ted Gilbert, Oswego, aunt of the bride, assisted Mrs. Muller at the punch bowl. Mr. and Mrs. Robinson left on a wedding trip to the Oregon coast resorts before leaving for Dallas, Texas, where they will make their home. The bride groom Is entering Dallas Theo logical seminary on September 1 For traveling the bride wore a nnvv blue suit, and a red and while checked silk blouse and red accessories. Pinned to her shoulder was a red rose. The bride was graduated from Albany high school and she later attended the Bible Institute of Los Angeles and Bob Jones uni versity, Greenville, S. C. The bridegroom was graduated last spring from the Bob Jones uni versity at Greenville. To Entertain Group Salem Heights Mrs. Mary McWain will be hostess to the Little Garden club of Salem Heights on Thursday, at a no host dinner at her home on Fairvicw Avenue at 12:30. Final plans will be completed for the program planning for the coming year, and commit tees will be appointed for the participation in the Oregon State fair. THE ANNUAL picnic for Hal Hlbbard camp and auxiliary, United Spanish War Veterans, was Sunday in the Dallas park. About 60 attended. TtC APT 388 No. Commercial Wedding at Local Church On Saturday At a candlelight service in the First Evangelical United Breth ren church at Salem, Saturday evening, August 18, at 8 o clock Miss Myrtle Arietta Rockhill, daughter of Mrs. Clarence Rock- hill, and the late Clarence Rock- hill, ol the Grand Island district, and Eugene Verne Lamb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Lamb of Dunsmuir, Calif., exchanged their wedding vows. Rev. V. A. Ballantyne of the Yakima Evangelical United Brethren church officiated at the double ring ceremony. Rev. George Millen assisted in the ceremony. Baskets of white gladioluses with candelabrums were used for decorations. The middle aisle pews were marked with white satin ribbon rosettes. Mrs. Paul Pike of Portland sang, accompanied by Mr. Des mond Hunsaker of Eugene, Mr. Hunsaker was also organist. Mrs. Jack Failor of Portland was violinist. The bride, given in marriage by her brother, R. R. Rockhill, wore a wedding dress of white slipper satin, made with lace yoke trimmed in seed pearls, a tiered lace panel down the front of the skirt and short sleeves. The skirt fell into a full train. The fingertip length veil was arranged from a matching head dress of satin, lace and seed pearls. The bride carried a cas cading bouquet of yellow rose buds; and wore a string of pearls, a girt from the bridegroom. Mrs. Carl Wood, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, wearing a moss green dress and she carried bronze pom pom dahlias. Mrs. J. A. White, Miss Iva Rockhill, Miss Lois Rockhill and Mrs. Ray Chiment were ikje bridesmaids. All wore light green frocks. Their flowers were bouquets of yellow pom pom dahlias. Mrs. John Richardson and Mrs. Clark Robb were the candle lighters. Richard Lamb was best man for his brother. Ushers were Clifford Vorm, Ellis Sprick, David Rickard and Ray Chim ent. The bride's mother wore a deep purple dress with lavender N.M. Shower for Recent Bride A shower was given for Mrs, Homer Davenport (Charlotte Wood), a recent bride, Satur day evening at the home of Mrs Earl Blankenship. Honoring Mrs. Davenport were her mother, Mrs. George Wood, her sister, Miss Helen Wood, Mrs. Alice Beardsley, Mrs. Ronald Craven, Miss Mary Mc Farlane, Mrs. Ruth Bischoff, Miss Mary Bischoff, Mrs. Harold Swinford, Mrs. Grace Bolton, Mrs. Clara Blankenship, Mrs. Frank Wood, and the hostess, Mrs. Blankenship. A SON, who has been named Tony Gene, was born to Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Cox (La Vonne Yost) of East Garden road on August 18 at Salem General hospital. Panhellenic Event Willamette university day In the series of teas and instruc tional meetings for high school graduates in the Portland area Dlannine to attend Oregon schools is to be Wednesday. The meetings are sponsored by Port land Panhellenic, in St. Helen's hail, between 7:30 and 9:30 o'clock. Mrs. Regina Ewalt, dean of women at Willamette, and Miss Marijo Ogle, president of the campus Panhellenic, are meeting with the group for the Willamette event Wednesday evening. Tuesday was Oregon Slate college day and Thursday evening is set aside for Uni versity of Oregon. YOUNG MATRONS club met last week and welcomed one new member, Mrs. Weston Hay den. The meeting was at the Mayflower hall. For the special program, Lynn Jo Buswell play ed accordion numbers and Mrs. Bob Fry sang. The next meeting I September. But why take anyone else's word for k?
