Admits Beating Crippled Mate Washington. Oct. 11 U. A 30-year-old housewife who ad mitted whipping her crippled husband because "he ate too many eggs" demanded a jury trial today to set aside her 10 day jail sentence. Trial Magistrate Henry T. Miller slapped the 10-day term on Mrs. Lula May Sexton Mon day and then freed her on bail pending her appeal to a circuit court jury. "I see no difference, ' said Miller, "between a man who assaults a woman and a woman who beats a crippled husband." Mrs. Sexton was arrested on the complaint of her husband Norrell, 57, who Is partially paralyzed as a result of a stroke. Sexton said Lula May became enraged because she thought he had taken too many eggs for breakfast. He said she whipped him across the face with a switch, punched him, pulled his hair, and tried to bang his head against a radiator. IV.rs. Sexton, a 125-pound brunette, admitted using a switch on her husband. But she said she did it only after he swatted her with a tennis racket. Council Must Wait To Replace Maple Due to an omission in the re vised city charter, no successor to Howard Maple's seat on the city council can be made until his resignation becomes effective November 13. ' A provision in the old charter by which a councilman's seat became vacant when he moved from his ward was not included in the new charter. ' Maple moved to Bend to en gage in the automobile business but has returned and attended several council meetings ' since he moved from the city. The city council will appoint his succes sor on or after November 13, when Maple's resignation be comes effective. DIRECTORY SEPTIC TANKS Mike's Septic Service. Tanks cleaned. Elee.
