In this group are 16 men, all . of whom have previously passed their pre-induction physical ex aminations. Baby Classes Starting Soon All women wishing to take the series of classes In mother and baby care and on family health are asked to register at once. The courses are sponsored as a cooperative program through the Marion county health de partment and the Marion coun ty chapter of the American Red Cross. The classes start October 4 and will be given in the new Red Cross headquarters, 434 North High street They wlU be taught by public health nurses of the county health department and other qualified nurses. Prospective students are ask ed to call either the county health department, 39208, or Mrs. Charles Mooney, Red Cross home nursing chairman, at 26405. The courses consist of six two hour lessons. They will be giv en as follows: Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and between 2 and 4 p.m.; Fridays, to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. Topics to be Included In the courses are: "Before the Baby Comes;' "The Baby Is Born;" "After the Baby Is Born;" "The Baby's First Year;" "The Child's Health in an Expanded Envir onment;" "Protection of the Family's Health." ' Material for the courses has been prepared by the American Red Cross and approved by the American Medical association, the American Nurses association, and other like organizations, Mrs. Mooney reports. Laundry Here Changes Hands Purchase of the Capital City Laundry and Cleaners, 1264 Broadway, by R. A. Rawllnson of Portland was announced Wednesday. The purchase was made from the estate of the late Thomas A. Wlndishar, Rudolph Windi shar of McMlnnvllle and Van Wieder of Salem. The laundry has been operated by the Win dishars since 1920. Rswlinson has operated a laundry and dry cleaning plant in Portland for the last IS years, and has been In the business there end elsewhere most of his life. He also has found tune! since World War II to give to1 cattle raising in eastern Oregon. He was In the navy during the war. Rawllnson Is a graduate of the University of Oregon and! has a degree from the Northwest ; College of Law In Portland. He i held a commission as lieutenant in the navy and If a member of the American Legion and the; Oregon Bar association. For many years he and his father, the late George Rawlln-1 son, operated the New System ! Laundry and dry cleaning bust-1 ness in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Rawllnson, who will live in Salem, have three children. Richard, Jr., and Susan sre students at the Uni versity of Oregon, and Sylvia Is in grade school. "We are coming to Salem be cause we like H here," Rawlln son said, "and because, after looking at plants all ever the country, I found the Capital City plant one of the best." He said no personnel changes would be made and no major changes in operation. Charles A.
