Biting for Bun Alone Unionvale On a fishing trip to Pacific City recently, Henry and Albert Schindler and How ard Baker, accompanied by Henry's seven-year-old son Ron ald, all went on a deep-sea fish ing craft, when the day was over, Ronald had a six pound Chinook salmon and the other fishermen had the bill for the boat to pay. Champoeg Picnic Held Gervais Mr. and Mrs. Fred Manning attended the reunion picnic held Sunday at Champoeg of the Xavicr Moisan and Mary Manning family. Members were present from Portland, Salem, Gervais, Coos Bay and Patton, Calif. Shaw Undergoes Second Operation Luton, England, Sept. 21 W Playwright George Bernard Shaw today underwent a second major operation at the hospital where he has been recovering from a broken thigh, the British Press association reported. The agency said the new sur gery was designed to relieve a bladder and kidney condition which began to trouble the 94-year-old Irish-born dramatist after he was first operated on for a fractured thigh. Shaw broke his thigh in a fall in his garden. After the thigh was operated on Sept. 1 1 Shaw was pronounc ed in good condition. However, the bladder condition shortly af terward caused his physicians some concern. At that time Shaw was treat ed for the kidney and bladder ailment described by the hos pital as "a worsening of long standing difficulty" without surgery. Walker, Salem unit, No. 136; district command er, installing officer, Earl Ah lers, Salem Post, No. 136. Man Dies at Wheel Portland, Sept. 21 W Leon C. McReynolds, 56, Tualatin, slumped at the steering wheel last night and his car rammed into four parked automobiles. He was dead when taken to a hospital. Lyons Gardeners Set Amateur Show Lyons The Lyons Garden club will hold Hi first amateur flower show at the community hall in Lyons, September 29. The show will be open to the public at 2 p.m. and remain open until 9. A plant and produce sale will be held and refreshments will be sold.
