Four Corners School Pupils Meet Officials at Assembly Four Comers On Wednesday at one o'clock the faculty and ttudent body of Lincoln school (Four Corners) held their first general assembly. Leading the Hag saline was joe wuson wiui Miss Shirley Payne leading the singing of America and other numbers. Teachers and student council members and monitors were introduced by Mr. Lamb.- Mrs. Clarence Irving will sub stitute in the second grade dur ing the absence of Mrs. Kathleen Toycen. Monitors appointed are libra rians, Rose Dunigan, Gary Mc Ilnay, Sharon Eggleston and Jo Gannon; health room, Twila Hickman, Sharon Eggleston; hall and mail, Tony Carnine; projec tor operators, Ronald Hill and Denny Williams; sanitarium, Danny Gosnell, Marsha Lee; ground cleanup, Faye Futrell, Judy Graen, Thomas Varley, Mary Hanson, Betty Bachland, Dennis Smith, Kenny Brant; council members room 8, Den nis Lucas, Joyce Brant; room 7, Maxine Ruhle, Gary Jorgenson, room 3, Judy Warren, Gary Snelgrove, room 9, Betty Jean Hodges, Butch Kleen, room 5, Linda Lee Capps, Tommy Ed wards, room 1, Katherine Kolb, Dick Shrake. Mothers to Meet The executive committee of the Mother's club will meet Monday, September 29 at 2 p.m. at the school. Mrs. Harvey Mey er will preside. Miss Claudia Donnelly, school nurse, was present on Wednesday and cared for Mrs. Kathleen Toycen at the time of her accident until the first aid car arrived. Four Corners young people going to college Include the fol lowing: Miss Verlaine Walker, who left this week for Oregon State college. This Is her senior year. She is majoring in home education. Richard Deen left Sunday for Provo, Utah, where he will enter the freshman class of the Brigham Young unlver sity. While in Salem high school he placed third In the state ten nis tournament and was a mem ber of the Salem high band. Lawrence Cherry has begun hta senior year at Willamette. He Is a physics major. Walter Hart la leaving this week to begin his third year at Oregon State college. He will study civil engineering. Robert Gilbert, who graduat ed from Willamette this year, is leaving September 26 to enter the University of Oregon Meal- cal school In Portland. Wayne Mercer has enrolled at Northwestern university at Ji-v anston. 111., to begin his fresh' man year in the school of music. He was head of the percussion section of the Salem high school band for two years. Circle 4 Week-end About 40 of the Circle 4 club members and their families spent the week-end at Camp Silver Creek. Mr. and Mrs. C O. GUming were In charge of the program. Hosts and hostesses were Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Sun- derlin. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy J. Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stone. The regular meeting of the club will be Friday, Septem ber 22 In the community hall. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dench will be in charge of the program. Out-of-state guests in the George Bixler home for ten days were Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Rawlings and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rawlinss. all of Kingsley, Mich. While here they also visited In the R. E. and Gordon Winchcomb homes in Salem. Mrs. Irwin Rawlings and R. E. Winchcomb are brother and sister. Another visitor in the Bixler home was his brother, C. G. Bixler of Cou lee Dam, Wash. He was enroute to Crescent City, Calif., to visit a sister. Mrs. S. H. Cable was hostess to the White Cross division of the Four Corners Baptist church on Wednesday. Brothers' Reunion Aurora A dinner at the Poncho Cafe in Portland Sunday night observed the re-union of four brothers, Floyd Smith of Aurora, Vic and Bert Smith of Portland and Ward Smith of Hermlston, Oregon. Wives of the Smith brothers also were among those at the dinnen " Middle Grove Associated Clubs Begin New Season it Middle Grove The Associated clubs of Middle Grove held their first meeting after a summer vacation at the school house last week. Two meetings a month are held by this organization, one strictly social with a program and free refreshments and the second a benefit for the new building fund. The business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Gil Blankenshlp. Mrs. Jack Wikoff resigned as secretary and Mrs. Jim Schardine was elected to fill the office. The turkey dinner originally plan ned for Friday, October 6, has been postponed, as several of the men of the community who take an active part are those who plan to go hunting. There will be a bazaar in December. Reports of committees were given. Special musical numbers were accordian solos by Suzann Ang lin; vocal numbers by Hubert Aspinwall, who plays his own accompaniment on the guitar. Colored slides showing scenic views of Oregon were shown by Pat Crossland, who has taken the pictures on trips made by the Chemeketans. Several new fam ilies of the community were present, and the three teachers, who are all new In the school. Refreshments were served for the social hour. The school Is now on a regu lar schedule. Seven primary pupils were transferred to Wash ington school. The enrollment for the school now stands: pri mary 16; second 11; third 12; fourth 11; fifth and sixth 10. One fifth grade pupil, Curtis Hansing, was dropped from the roll last week, as his parents are moving to southern Califor nia. Middle Grove primary enroll ment has an unusual list of names this year. It has the dis tinction of having triplets en rolled. They are the two sons and one daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Thompson. The mother, Mrs. Marjorie Thompson, la principal of Auburn school. On the roll are Frank Thompson, Rachel Tho mpson, William Thompson, Don Allen Anglin. Kathleen Taylor, Jan Paris, Sharen Millar, Donetta Free, Cynthia Kaufman, Thomas Grif fin, Cary Herr, Carolyn Mar quiss, Dennis Scharf, Michael Ziehart, Stephanie Anderson and Donald Max Beach.
