The wedding will be in St. Paul's Eniscopal church, the re ception following In the church parish hall. Miss Hale Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Hale. Her sister, Mrs. Philip Blankenship (Doris Hale) was married July 1. Mr. Allport is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Allport. The engagement of the couple was announced last fall. Girls Attend Scout Camp A large number of Girl Scouts from the Salem district are reg istered for the two-week per iod of the Santiam Area Girl Scout summer camp at Smith Creek, July 24 to August 6. ' The physical checkups will be given this Friday evening at the YMCA at 7 o'clock. There will be opportunity for parents and friends to visit the camp during this session on Sunday, July 30, between the hours of 2 and 5 o'clock. THETA RHO girls club, Beta lota chapter, No. 57, meet at the IOOF hall last night and elected Ida Pauline Comer to member ship. The girls made plans to go to the home of Mrs. James Mennis on Saturday evening, July 29, at 8 o'clock, for a slumber party. The next meeting of the group Is August 3. VISITORS here during the mid-week were Miss Gertrude Eakin and Miss Alice Judd of Long Beach, Calif., who stopped a few hours en route to Timber line Lodge and the Mt. Hood country to spend their vacation. In Salem they were luncheon Kuests of Mrs. Margaret Rose- crans. Miss Eakin is executive director of the YWCA in Long Beach. Portland and Salem units of the Women's Overseas Service league are planning a no-host picnic at Champoog, Sunday, July 23, at 1 p.m. Women who served overseas during World War I and II are invited to at tend. Officia ting will be the baby's grand father, the Rev. George H. Swift, rector of the church. Godparents are to be uncles and aunts of the little boy, Mr. and Mrs. Roger K. Putnam, George H. Swift, Jr., and Miss Jean Clafc Swift, the latter vis iting from San Francisco. Grandparents of the baby are the Rev. and Mrs. George H Swift of Salem and Mrs. Jack Snow of Santa Maria, Calif. The baby is the second son in the Smith family, the brother being Michael, who is nearly six years old. Miss Anderson Wed Tuesday Four Corners In the pres ence of the immediate relatives and friends, Miss June Ander son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy T. Anderson, was wed to Lauren H. Johnson, U.S.N., son of Mrs. Hannah Johnson, in a simple ceremony on Tuesday, juiy in, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of St. Paul's Episcopal church in Salem. The Rev. George H. Swift read the nuptial vows. The bride was given in marriage by her father. For her wedding she wore a medium blue checked wool suit and corsage of white carnations. Mrs. Robert Helstrom was ma tron of honor. Her suit was of pale blue gabardine and she wore a corsage of white carna tions. Robert Helstrom, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. The brides mother chose a summer beige suit and a corsage of mixed flowers. Mrs. Johnson was gowned in a printed ensem ble. Her corsage was also of mixed flowers. DAYTON Miss Lois Frink entertained with a bridal show er at her home last week for Miss Joan McKlmens of Mc- Minnvllle, who is the bride- elect 01 Fred Price of Corvallls. Miss Rose To Be Bride Of interest to Salem friends is the wedding of Miss Sally Rose of Portland and Robert Stock of Seattle, the ceremony to be sol emnized at 4 o'clock Saturday af ternoon in Trinity Episcopal church in Portland. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Merrill Rose of Portland and the late Mr. Rose, and a niece of the late Governor Earl Snell. The reception following the service will be at the Rose home. Attending the wedding from Salem will be Mrs. Earl Snell and Mrs. Olive M. Currey. Gardeners Picnic The Oak Grove Gardeners of Rlckreall met at the home of Mrs. Lee Gibson for a no-host picnic Tuesday. A card and handkerchief shower was given in honor of Mrs. Clara Brunk on her 80th birthday. The gar den club members presented her with a cake, following which Mrs. Brunk gave a short talk on her life. A surprise shower was given by Mrs. Emily Howard and Mrs, Dana Billiter at the home of Mrs. Howard Last evening, Mrs. Ben Good man entertained at her North Church street home to honor Miss Swanson. A buffet supper was served, followed by a pan try shower. The supper table was decorated with a large bou quet of carnations, snapdragons, delphiniums and maidenhair fern. In the center of the cake served was an old fashioned bri dal nosegay of sweet peas and stephanotis. Attending were Miss Swan son, Mrs. Viola Parks, Mrs. Mayme Yates, Mrs. John Neef, Mrs. Laura Pangle, Mrs. Lloyd McCain, Mrs. Robert M. Back From Convention Woodburn Mrs. Eugene Stol- ler, junior past president of the Woodburn Business and Profes sional Women's club, returned recently from San Francisco where she attended the conven tion of the National Federation of B.P.W. clubs which was held July 2 to 7. The convention was attended by 3,000 delegates rep resenting 155,000 members from every state, Alaska, Hawaii and District of Columbia. After the convention Mrs. Stoller spent a ' week as the guest of Mrs. J. B.
