Goldenweds To Be Feted 1 At Reception Mr. and Mrs. James M. Glass are observing their golden wed ding anniversary at a reception planned for next Sunday eve ning. Guests have been bidden to the Manbrin Gardens home of the couple between S and 6 and between 7 and 8 o'clock. The anniversary is June 27. The couple were married in Prattsburg, New York, and have resided in Salem for the past 10 years. All their family will be here for the anniversary, Including their daughter. Miss Brenda Glass, who is at home; three sons, Robert H. Glass of Boulder, Colo., Nelson S. Glass of Winter .Park, Fla., who is to be accom panied by his son, Malcolm; and James M. Glass, Jr., Chatta nooga, Tenn., who will be ac companied by his wife and their son, James Glass III. The hon ored couple have five grandchil dren. At the Sunday reception, Mrs. James M. Glass, Jr., will serve Nthe cake and pouring will be Mrs. Darold Elkins and Mrs. Fred Lange. A family dinner will be given on the day of the anniversary, June 27. Silverton Couple Married 50 Years Silverton Of special inter est to their many local friends is the observance of the golden wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs. Thomas E. Chidsey of 1311 Pine street, Silverton, at the Baker, Oregon, home of a daughter, Mrs. R. B. McCord. next Sunday afternoon, June 25. The open house is to be between 2 and 5 o'clock. . The Chidseys, natives of east ern Oregon, were married June 24, 1900, at the Prairie City family home of the bride who wai Miss Pearl Franklin, the Rev. Ezra Hayes, officiating. Their children and grandchild ren, who plan to be present at the golden wedding, are Mrs R. B. (Neva) McCord of Baker, Edward F. Chidsey of La Grande, and Mrs. Joe (Melba) Stoy of Grants Pass. The grandchildren and members of their families are of Baker, Mrs. Kenneth Sturgill (Barbara McCord) and Blair, Mrs. Melvin Durgan (Dorothy McCord) and Michael, Leslie Ann, Shirley, Sharon and Oliver; of LaGrande, Mrs. War ren Chandler (Beverly Chidsey) and Sandra, Sharon and Jackie; of Portland, Mrs. Allen Mills Ik. (Dorothy Chidsey) and James. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stoy of Grants Pass, David, will be unable to attend the affair at Baker as he is a member of a Boy Scout group making the trip to Valley Forge. Mrs, Joe Stoy came to Silver ton the latter part of the week and with her parents accompan ied her brother, Edward F. Chidsey who drove from his bom in LaGrande, to Baker, leaving Monday. They plan to be in eastern Oregon for a fort night Both Mr. and Mrs. Chidsey are active in civic, lodge and church affairs locally. They have been residents here for a number of years. Buffet Dinner Given Stayton A buffet dinner marked the 10th wedding anni versary of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jones, recently at their home on West Stayton road. Married in Los Angeles June 12, 1920, while Mr. Jones was still in the navy, the family lived in Cali fornia for many years, moving 'to Stayton more than three years go. They have two sons, Stanley Jones, who recently re-enlisted In the army Intending to make it his career, and Leland Jones who is in the air force in Texas, t Their daughter Is Mrs. Glen Da me wood of North Howell. A large anniversary cake, baked by the Stayton bakery was a feature of the dinner. At tending were Mr. and Mrs. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Craft, Misses Patricia and Dorothy Case, Richard Brayton, and Mr. and Mrs, Frank Pope, all of Silverton Hills; Mr. and Mrs. Damewood and son Edward of North Howell; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Schoenauer and two chil dren of Mehama; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Knight, Mrs. NeUie Jones nd George Downing. DAYTON Mrs. Dolph Good rich and Mrs. Ross Cruickshank were hostesses for a bridal shower, at the Goodrich home, en Saturday evening, honoring Mrs. Laurence Allen, who was formerly Miss Marian Maynard, of Three Mile Lane. There were about SO present to enjoy games, and gifts were given the honor ed guest. Refreshment! were served. r 7 Silverton Miss Thora Ares tad is the new president of the Silverton Business and Pro fessional Women's club, in stallation having been con ducted recently. (Drake stu dio, Silverton) Wedding at Local Church St. Vincent de Paul Catholic church was the scene of the double ring wedding of Miss Lorene Boedlgheimer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Boedlg heimer of Salem, and Thomas Holmes, son of Earl Holmes of Brooks, on Saturday, June 17. Rev. George L. O'Keefe, pas tor, performed the 10 o'clock nuptial mass. The altar was decorated with pink and white peonies and white delphiniums, Wayne Meusey was the organist and the soloist was Gerald Nir-tling. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white sat in gown, fashioned with train and long sleeves, fitted bodice and lace yoke. The fingertip veil with circular head dress was arranged with pearl flowers. The bride carried a lavender orchid on a white prayer book. Mrs. Joseph Frichtl, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a pale green marqui sette dress. She carried a nose gay of white and pink carna tions. The bridesmaids' dresses were made identically to that of the matron of honor. Miss Vanah Holmes, sister of the bridegroom, wore pink; Miss Helen Fery, cousin of the bride. wore yellow. Sharee Masser, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a yellow frock. Best man was Joseph Frichtl, brother-in-law of the bride. Groomsmen were Robert Boe dlgheimer, brother of the bride, and Don Blair. Ushers were George Frichtl, Tony Masser, uncles of the bride and Jesse Holmes, brother of the bride groom. Mass servers were Gerry and Ronnie Boedigheimer, cou sins of the bride. Mrs. Albert Boedigheimer se lected a gold suit for her daughter's wedding. She wore a navy blue hat and a corsage of pink carnations. Following the wedding, a din ner was served in the parish hall. Mrs. Mary Gotfried had charge of the wedding dinner and Mrs. Ethel Patterson assist ed. Mrs. George Frichtl, aunt of the bride, cut the wedding cake. Mrs. William Boedighei mer, Mrs. Fred Fery, aunts of the bride, served. Assisting were Misses Marlene and Marylne Frichtl, Miss Marie and Laura Bell Fery, cousins of the bride; Mrs. Tony Masser, aunt of the bride, and two classmates. Miss Dorothy Kessle and Miss Betty Menkie. Miss Ruby Bairey, a Engagements Announced Two engegements were an nounced Saturday afternoon at a party given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John St. Clair. Hidden in corsages of pink and white carnations which were presented to each guest on ar rival were the names of two couples. Miss Patricia Lockhart announcing her betrothal to Robert Rasmussen, and Miss Jacqueline St. Clair telling of her engagement to Paul Benage. Miss Lockhart is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Lockhart of Salem and Mr. Rasmussen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. C Rasmussen of Nehalem. Miss St. Clair is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John St. Clair of Sa lem and Mr. Benage is the son of Mrs. Roy Paddock of Park-place. Miss Lockhart and Miss St. Clair attended Salem schools. Mr. Rasmussen was graduated from Oregon State college with the class of 19E0 and Mr. Ben age was graduated from Willam ette university with the class of 1B4B. Games were played and lunch eon served to the brides-elect and guests at a table decorated in pink and white. Those attending were Mrs. Donald Thorn, Mrs. Marlin St. Clair, Misses Ora Lee Frey, Floribel Gordon, Beverly Fox, Patricia St. Clair, Mary Mc Donnell, Caroline Lockhart, and the brides-elect. No dates have been set for the weddings. Rainbow Meeting Event at Silverton Silverton Ramona assembly No. 36, Order of Rainbow for Girls, met Monday at Masonic hall with Miss Jane Hande. worthy adviser, and Mrs. W. P. Scarth, mother adviser, presid ing. Plans for the summer food canning are underway. A De- Molay-Rainbow picnic with breakfast at Silver Falls state park early In September will be a social event for the beginning of the club year. "Secret Dads" ot Rainbow members present were W. P. Scarth, E. A. Finlay, Edmund Jackson, W. Dale LaMar, Robert Allen, Ed Miller, Felix Wright, Willard Benson and L. Martin. Miss Jeanne Bartsch received initiatory degrees. Brief talks under "good of the arder" were by Willard Benson, E. A. Finlay, Miss Joyce Martin, OES Meeting Is Season's Finale Chadwick chapter. Order of Eastern Star, held its last meet ing of the year until September, Tuesday night, at the Masonic temple. Past grand matron, Mrs. Paul Hauser, and past grand patron, Rex Davis, were escorted, and both talked for the good of the order. Grand chapter reports were given by Mrs. W. L. Le wis, matron, Gail Jones, worthy patron, Mrs. Earl Wiper and Mrs. Paul Hauser. Following Initiation of new members and a business meet ing refreshments were served. A summer picnic for the chapter was planned with the date to be announced later. Many out-of-town visitors were present for the meeting. SCIO Mr. and Mrs. Norris Bell and children of Alturas, Calif, are visiting at the home of Mrs. Bell's mother, Mrs, Minnie Hunter. Another daugh ter and children, Mrs. Ethel Thompson, of eastern Oregon also are visiting in the Hunter home. They will remain until after the wedding of their sister, Miss Shirley Hunter, and William Pynch, which will take place Thursday evening at the Baptist church. ...
