    New Device May Change Ways

The Instrument itself is com

Butch Given
Hero's Reward
Des Moines, la., June 21 OI.R)
Butch, a dog who saved his two-year-old
master from drowning,
reaped a hero's award today
an ice box full of beef.
"When he finishes that, he can
have more," said Mrs. John
Reed.
Her son, La Mont, fell into a
water-filled pit, seven feet deep,
yesterday. Butch, a mongrel,
grabbed the boy's s hirt with his
teeth and held his head above
water for an estimated 10 min
utes. His growling finally attracted
the attention of La Mont's three
older brothers who were playing
nearby By the time they
brought their mother, Butch had
dragged La Mont from the
water.
