Rotana Delegates .Announced At the meeting of Salem Ro tana club Monday evening, Mn. Snyder, Mn. Marie Ban, and Mrs. Grant Farria were named to be delegates to the national Rotana convention in Bozeman, Mont.. July 14, IS and 16. Mn Fannie Douglai will be alternate, Misa Vada L. Kill goei aa the national Rotana pres Ident. The Salem club entertaiu- ed the national convention last year. i- . The Monday meeting of the local club waa at the home of Mn. Letter Thomas with Mrs. C. K. Murphy and Mn. Robert Hanna as co-hostesses. Misa Doris Shrock was a guest. Mrs. Henry Madsen was named chairman for a rummage sale planned in early fall. Mn. Lester Thomas and Mn. Herbert Miller volunteered to work on the Cherryland Festival ticket sale. Next meeting of the club will be July 10 at the home of Mrs. .Waldo Baker. ; Newburn-Aiken Wedding at Eugene From Eugene come details of the wedding of Miss Jacquelyn Newburn. and James W. Wesley Goodson Nicholson, church pas tor, officiating. For her wedding the bride wore white nylon marquisette gown with yoke of nylon and imported rose point lace encir cled with a bertha of the lace, long sleeves and full court train. The fingertip length il luslon veil waa arranged from a tiara encrusted with seed pearls. For her flowers the blonde bride carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley arranged Hospital Auxiliary Presents $850 Check To Buy Equipment A check for $850 to purchase equipment for the Salem Mem orial hospital was presented to Irwin Wedel, hospital superin tendent, by the hospital auxili ary at its meeting Monday after noon. Mrs. Howard Doak, aux iliary treasurer this past year, made the presentation. The money will be used in purchas ing a resusclnette for the hospital. At the auxiliary business meeting new officers were elect ed as follows: Mrs. M. B. Rudd, president; Mrs. P. C. Anderson, first vice president; Mrs. A. C. Haag, second vice president; Mrs. M. H. Saffron, secretary; Mrs. A. J. Becker, treasurer. Mrs. Ed Goeckner is the retiring president. The meeting was the last for the auxiliary until September. PAST PRESIDENTS club of the Woman's Relief corpe is meeting Thursday for a no-host luncheon at the home of Mn. Dora Pratt, 1153 North 16th. with tulle and ribbon. Miss Constance Jackson was maid of honor, wearing yellow. Bridesmaids were Miss Carol Aiken, sister of the bridegroom, in blue; Miss Coral Jane Knee land, in pink; Miss Alicia Peten, in lavender, and Miss Jacque line Hinds, In green. All wore Ester Reed daisies in their hair shadei complementing their gowns, and each earned a cres cent basket of flowers in deeper shade than her gown. Suzanne and Judith Johnson, daughters of Dr. and Mrs. Eldon Johnson, were flower girls. Young Mich ael Newburn, younger brother of the bride, was the ringbearer. Jerry Aiken was best man for his brother, and ushen were Lawrence Hull, Jr., of Newport, Robert Aiken of Salem, Edward Crobat and Edwin Allen of Eu gene, all fraternity brothers of the bridegroom. The reception following was at the Newburn residence on McMorran drive. The couple will make their home In Portland, where he is employed with the Dant and Russell lumber firm. Mrs. Aiken will teach next year in Portland Republican Women Meet Monday Eve Salem unit of the Oregon Re publican Women's Federation met Monday evening at the courthouse. James Collins of Portland was speaker, analyzing the last elec tion. He stressed the import ance of the 1950-52 elections and the importance of not only group work but individual work. During the business session plans for the summer were dis cussed by the republican women. Invitation was received to at tend a no-host luncheon of the state board at Albany hotel and a tea at the home of Mrs. Clyde Williamson at Albany on June IB. Three Links Club The Thrati Links club met Fri day afternoon at the Rebekah club rooms with Miss Hazel Price presiding. Plans were laid to charter a bus to take the mem bers to a picnic at the home of Mrs. Blanch Saunders at Gates on July 23. A program appropriate for Flag day was presented by the committee. Miss Wilda Sieg mund, Mn. Lettie Larson, Mrs. Eugenia Morris and Mn. Coral McNeil, consisting of a tribute to the flag by Mrs. Nettie Larson, reading by Miss Wilda Seig- mund entitled "Old Glory," and a piano medley of patriotic airs by Mrs. Nettie Larson. The flag salute and the singing of the na tional anthem completed the program. Refreshments were served by the committee. REGULAR MEETING for unit No. 136, American Legion aux iliary, is slated for 8 p. m. Tues day in the downstairs room of the Salem Woman's club. A VISITOR from Greenburg, Indiana, Mrs. Pearl Straw- becke, attended the meeting of Salem Rebekah lodge Monday evening. Announcement was made of the Theta Rho club meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. and of initiation for the KeDeK- ahs next Monday evening. Betrothal Told Mr. and Mrs. A. Vlttone an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Imogene Vittone, to Sgt. Vernon Porter, son of Mrs. Johny Porter of Oklahoma. The wedding is planned for some time in August. Goldenweds To Be Feted Dr. and Mn. Benjamin Blatch- ford. 1625 Center street, Salem, will celebrate their golden wed- ing anniversary next Sunday, June 18. A reception is planned between 3 and 6 o'clock. The reception will be given at the country home of their Dr. Roderick C. Blatchford of Milwaukie, Oregon, 12203 S. E. Hilltop rd.. which may be reached by way of Lake road one mile east of Milwaukie. A general invitation to their friends is ' being extended through the press. Their daughter, Mn. Gerald Bonnington of Berkeley, Calif., and another son, Dr. Ruskin D. Blatchford of Salem, will be present. A third son, Frederick of Chi cago, will be unable to attend. They have eight grandchildren, six of whom will be at the reception. Dr. and Mrs. Blatchford were married in Ellendale, North Da kota, June 19, 1900. Dr. Blatch ford was a practicing dentist in Salem for 25 years, from 1920 to 1945. MRS. HARVARD C. MOORE of Salem was among those tak ing in commencement week-end events at University of Oregon over Saturday and while' there was guest of her sisters, Mrs. Condon C. McCornack and Mrs. Lynn S. McCready. MRS. R. D. WOODROW of Sa lem was among those attending the reunion dinner for the class of 1925 at University of Oregon Saturday eyening in Eugene. Miss Muller Bride Sunday The home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank F. Muller, route 1, Molal la, was the scene of a wedding Sunday afternoon, June 11 when their daughter, Miss Gena Mul ler, was wed to Orville L. Cline, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester C. Cline of Independence. In a setting of baskets of fern and white roses. Rev. Joyce Stanley Kendall, pastor of the Molalla Methodist church, per formed the double ring ceremony. The bride wore a gown of white taffeta and nylon lace with fingertip veil and head dress, and carried a colonial type bouquet of gladioluses and stephanotis with a white rose center. She was unattended. The bride's mother, Mrs. Frank Muller, wore a sheer ray on print dress with a corsage of gladioluses. Mrs. Lester Cline, mother of the bridegroom, wore a rose rayon crepe dress and corsage of white gladioluses. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was given in the dining room. The table was decorated with white bride's roses and centered with a three tiered wedding cake, baked by the bride's mother. The cake and other refreshments were served by the mothers, Mrs. Muller and Mrs. Cline and the bride's grand mother, Mrs. Delia Shaver of Molalla. The bride wore a beige suit for traveling on their two weeks honeymoon trip through eastern Washington and Canada. They will be at home in Grants Pass after June 25. nidation at Star Meeting Salem chapter, Order of East ern Star, met Saturday eve ning in the Masonic temple with Mrs. Russel Beutler, worthy matron, and James Darby, worthy parton, presiding, Initiated into the order were, Mr. - and Mrs. Joseph Miller, Mrs. Genevieve Curry and Mn. Mn. Harvey Gibbens had charge of the decorating and was assisted by Mn. Giles Smith and Mn. Lucille Wyatt.
