Rotary Anns Approve Appointments Committee appointments for the year to come were approved at Monday afternoon's meeting of the Women of Rotary, the first of the year. Mrs. Farley Mogan, the speak er, discussed "A Woman's View of Europe Now." Mrs. Arthur D. Hay, new president, presid ed at the luncheon meeting at the Gold Arrow. Department Meet Draws Officers The annual department con ference of the American Legion auxiliary, beinj held in Portland ; Thursday and Friday, at the Portland Legion post auditor ium, 1139 S.W. 13th avenue, will be attended by women through out the state of Oregon. Mrs. Charles Gilbert of Nor woch, Conn., past national presi dent of the auxiliary, will speak at the public relations banquet, given by, the Oregon department Thursday evening at 7 o clock . at the Congress hotel. Garden Club Holds First Fall Meeting Friendly Neighbors Garden club began its fall meetings with a supper recently at the home of Mrs. Juanita Minnick on South 12th street. The new president, Mrs. Dar line Coon, presided over the business meeting which follow ed the supper. Attracting the in terest of the members was the Sales Rose society trophy, won by the club's entry in the June Rose show. The next meeting will be Oc tober 2, with Mrs. Belva Hall as hostess. The Lansing Neighbors Gar den club met at the home of Mrs. Ballard, 290 Evergreen for a one o'clock luncheon. The af ternoon was spent planning the program for the coming year and Mrs. Ethel Lermon was vot ed as a new member. Mid-Summer Nuptials Mrs. James Groesbeck of Stayton, fol lowing her summer' wedding. She is the former Leona Foltz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward J. Collins has bidden members of the execu tive board of Town and Gown, over which she will preside this year, to a luncheon Thursday afternoon at her home in North 14th street. Plans will be made for the first meeting of the group to be held October 23 to include a program and tea fol lowing at University house. Bidden are Mrs. Silas Gaiser. vice-president; Miss Olive M. Schramm, music; and Miss Lorena Jack, director of Lau sanne hall. Miss Riedesel To Be Bride On Saturday A bride of Saturday evening will be Miss Esther Riedesel. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Riedesel, who will be married to Charles Hilliker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hilliker of Pulaski, N. Y. The wedding will take place at the First Church of the Naz- arene with Rev. Orville Jenks officiating. Mrs. Orwin Dexter will sing, accompanied by Mrs John Schmidt. The bride, to be given in mar riage by her father, will have one attendant, Mrs. Rudolph Budde of Corvallis. Best man will be Mr. Budde. Seating the guests will ' be John Janzen and Milford Skill A reception will be held at the Woman's club. The couple will live in New York City fol lowing an eastern wedding trip. Miss Dunlap Shower Feted Miss Pauline Dunlap, bride elect of Napoleon Roque, will be complimented Tuesday eve ning when Mrs. W. F. Lukins entertains with an informal des sert affair at Nohlgren's. Fall flowers will decorate the table for the event. The eve ning will be spent informally, with a kitchen shower honoring the bride-to-be whose marri age will be an event of later in the fall.
