Another Salem maid has added her name to the list of brides
elect this week. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Greenlee are announcing
the engagement of their daughter, Beth, to Ben Gifford, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gifford.

Croix Falls high school in St.
Croix Falls, Wis., and worked
at the First National bank in
Minneapolis before coming to
Salem. She is now employed
as secretary to the stale comp
troller at the industrial accident
commission.
Her fiance is a graduate of
Salem high school, and was
discharged in January after 2A
yejs' service in the South Pa
cific with the navy. As an avia
tion machinist mate, lc, he
served on Saipan, Tinian and
Tarawa.

group of her friends at luncheon

the rooms. The affair is first in

presided Thursday afternoon at
a 1 o'clock luncheon at her new
home, second in a series of af
fairs. Spring flowers provided the
decoraUve note. Following the
luncheon several hours of con
tract bridge were in play.

church in Albany was scene of
the marriage of Terratha Bur
forri ana Cecil A. Ware.
The high noon ceremonies
were pefomed by Rev. Luther.
For her wedding the bride chose
a pastel blue suit with which
she wore matching accessories
and a corsage of gardenias and
pink carnations. ,
A wedduig dinner honoring
the couple was held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Ware,
parents of the bridegroom, with
members of the immediate fam
ily present. After a short wed
ding trip, the couple will re
turn to Albany to make their
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Simon
have just returned to Salem
after a two months' vacation
trip in California and Mexico.
Salem visitor Tuesday after
noon was Mrs. Mathilda Will
man, of Portland.'

February at impressive ceremonies at St. John's Episcopal church
in Fort Smith, Ark. A reception followed at the home of the
bride's parents, Col. and Mrs. Nelson A. Myll. She is the former
Dorothy Myll. Captain Parker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W.
Parker of Salem. They will make their home here.

Wednesday evening, Mrs.
James McFarland entertained
members of her group with a
dessert supper at her home in
North 19th street.

Joseph M. Devers, Jr., who
will preside at a late supper af
ter several hours of contract
bridge for her guests.
Mrs. Howard Shubert will
entertain members of her bridge
club Friday evening. The hos
tess will serve a dessert, to be
followed by contract bridge.
Special guest for the evening
will be Mrs. H. P. Hielman of
Portland, visitor at the Shubert

Admits Members
Lincoln The Lincoln Ladies
Goodwill club, organized in
1937 for the purpose of welcom
ing newcomers, enrolled two
new members, Mrs. Avalt Mil
ler and Mrs. Seth Dodge, when
the club held the March meeting
at the home of Mrs. R. J. Meis
sner. Mrs. H. W. Ashford and
Mrs. Lois Crawford were co
hostesses. Bouquet of japonica, jon
quils, spirea and wild currant
arranged in tall vases and low
bowls of vari-tinted primroses,
violets, and hyacinths were used
about the rooms and on serving
tables. The St. Patrick theme
was used throughout the affair.
Mrs. Nels Yenckel, president
was In charge of the meeting.
