Angelina's wedding had been like a cyclone and she had been right In the middle ot it, seeing caterers, sending out invitations, arranging for the wedding breakfast, listing the presents and engaging detectives to guard them. Some of the things had to be paid for Immediately and Di, not wanting to bother Angelina had exhausted her meager funds. Surely, Angelina would settle up before leaving on her honey moon. But she had not, and Di was now almost penniless. With a sigh, she was closing the door when she caught a glimpse of herself In the mirror. That Image depressed her. A slender, fair-haired girl with blue eyes and a detached, absent-minded air, .she was pretty In a way, but 1 was not a way anyone noticed. "Perhaps she'll remember and lend me a check," sighed Di, as picking up her hat and coat she . went downstairs to wait for Connor, Angelina's chauffeur, Who was calling for her. "I'll find something to do to morrow," she told herself. She had telephoned that morn ing to the landlady of the rooming-house where she had spent a horrible month before she got her job with Angelina, and the landlady had said there was a vacant room she could have, at seven dollars per week. She had highly unpleasant memories of that house, but she did not know where else to go. "And Mrs. Kriek knows me," she thought. "Oh, dear!" cried Mrs. Frick. "I don't like this! Going off with a man you don't know! Stay here " Surprised, Di exclaimed, "but I haven't any money!" "Why didn't you tell me," cried Mrs. Frick. "Slay anyway and pay me when you can!" , "I'm awfully sorry, but you see " "Then ring me up!" said Mrs. Frick. "Promise to ring me up as soon as you get there, and give me the address."
