Indictment was under "little Lindbergh" law of California which provides death penalty when kidnap victim is harmed. f Night Meeting Suggested For County PTA Council East Salem, Dec. 21 The largest group of delegates answering roll call at the meeting of PI A members held at the annex Wednesday were from East Sa lem districts. Those attending were Mrs. Charles Bottorff, county vice president; Mrs. Wil liam Hensell, a member of Swe gle PTA and secretary of the council; Mrs. William Damery, Mrs. Otis Dawes, Mrs. Ralph Becker, Mrs. C. A. Salter, Mrs. Rex Peffcr, Mrs. Menno Dalke, Mrs. William Hartley, Mrs. John Woodburn, Mrs. E. E. Terrill, and Mrs. Walter Swingle, a for- Mary Has Pet Duck, Follows Her to School Mary Arnold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Arnold, 1315 North 21st street, is own er of a pet Mallard duck, which like another Mary's lit tle lamb, follows her to school. Mary attends Englewood school, and the duck, whose name is Oscar, has a lot of fun playing with the children on the school grounds. Also some of the neighborhood dogs like Oscar, one especially. This dog and Oscar have become great pals. One of Mary's aunts present ed Oscar to Mary last Easter when the duck was a baby, and had become separated some way from the wild bunch. Albany Posfoffice Records Shattered Albany All business volume records at the Albany post of fice are being shattered by cur rent Christmas mail, Postmas ter G. T. Hockensmith said Thursday. After lagging during Novem ber and early December, a rush began this week and has in creased with such crescendo that not only will December volume set a new record but the record for the year will stand out far above that of last year, which itself set an all-time high. Of special interest to all at tending were the films shown by the school superintendent planned for the PTA meeting; and the health talk by - Mrs, Harmon Yeary, a member of the Marion county department of health staff. A suggestion made by Mrs. Agnes Booth county superinten dent of schools, that the council meet ings be held at night so that teachers might attend, was brought before the group for consideration by the president Mrs. W. R. Terhune. One of the largest holiday club parties for the season was held at the home of Mrs. Har old Bunn on Hollywood drive Wednesday night when mem bers of the Merry-Go-Round club and friends met for a so cial evening. Only a short busi ness meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Clayton Gibb. Numbers on the program were: violin selections by Ann Becker with Rita Schwarz at the piano; a vocal solo by Mrs. Rex Peffer; readings by Mrs Victor M. LaDue; group sing ing of carols with Mrs. Walter Fisher at the piano, and a vocal number by little Phyllis Rice, daughter of Mrs. Milton Rice, A gift exchange was charge of Mrs. Charles Bottorff, who was assistant hostess. For mer members who live on the Wallace road and in Salem at tending were Mrs. Oscar Foe, Mrs. Charles Thomas and Mrs. Leslie Springer. Guests from other districts were Mrs. Wil liam Damery, Mrs. William Hartley and Mrs. Herbert Hale, from Pasco, Wash. New mem bers of the group were: Mrs. Lloyd Laudie and Mrs. Paul Barham. , Others in attendance were: Mrs. JKalpn Becker, Mrs, Edward Curtis, Mrs. R. M, Proudfit and daughter, Iris, Mrs. Oscar Forgard, Miss Florence Kleeman, Mrs. Cecil Frame, Marilyn and Gary, Mrs. Harold Holler and Jerry Gibb.
