Newspaper Page TextRice Pudding Coffee or Tea (Recipes Serve Four) Spicy Apple Butter 12 cups sliced, peeled, cored apples 4 cups cider 3 cups sugar 1 cup light corn sirup 1 tablespoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon cloves 1 teaspoon mace H teaspoon salt 3 tablespoons lemon juice Simmer apples and cider, cov ered, until ' apples are soft. Add rest of ingredients and boil gently until the butter thick ens. Stir frequently with long handled spoon. Pour butter in to hot, sterilized jars and seal at once. Bran Bread 1 cup bran 1 cup whole wheat flour 2 cups flour 2 teaspoons soda 1 teRspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon sail H cup sugar cup molasses 2 cups buttermilk or sour milk 2 tablespoons shortening, melted Mix ingredients and pour in to large wax paper-lined loaf pan. Let rise IS minutes and bake IVi hours in moderate oven. U cup diced onions 2 tablespoons minced parsley 4 tablespoons bacon drippings (or other kind), melted Vt cup hot milk or chicken stock Mix ingredients with a fork and lightly stuff the fowl.
