Weds Salem Man
One of July's most charming
brides was Miss Dorothy May Tup-
ling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Tupling of Portland, whose
marriage to Charles R. Barber of
Salem, son of Mrs. Oscar Barber
of Abilene, Texas., took place Sat
urday night at Westminster Presby
terian church. The church was dec
orated for the wedding with white
gladioluses, snapdragons and roses
against a background of palms and
lighted candles.
Preceding Miss Tupling down the
bridal aisle were her sister-In -law,
Mrs. William Lloyd Tupling of
Boise, Ida., as matron of honor, and
her sister, Margery, as maid of
honor. Both attendants wore dress
es of blue marquisette embroidered
with bouquets of pastel flowers and
carried sheaves of pastel-toned wa
ter lilies. .
The dark-haired bride was lovely
in her wedding gown of white mar
quisette embroidered with full
blown roses and tiny but'.!. It was
made in princess style with a train.
Her two-tlercd finger-tip length veil
was caught to her hair with three
large white roses And she carried
a cluster of the same roses.

ried Friday evening at 8 o'clock
in a setting of while gladioluses and
pink larkspur and candles In Pied
mont Presbyterian church, The Rev
Willis Bergen officiated. Leonard
Ranton was soloist.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a dress of white
Ninon sheer with bishop sleeves,
sweetheart neckline border with
seed pearls nnd a full skirt with a
train. Her tulle veil, lace-edged, fell
from a seed pearl halo and she car
ried ft colonial bouquet of Hum
boldtil bouvardla and Rapture
roses.
The bride's sister, Mrs. William
H, Bradford of Salem, as matron of
honor wore blue marganza similar
In style to the bride's dress and
carried blue delphiniums, pink
bouvardla and sweet peas with the
same flowers in her hair. The
bridesmaid. Miss Marjorle Thome
was In pink marganza with similar
flowers.
Best man was Otto Wilson, Jr.,
of Salem. Ushers were William Ton-
ey, John Kelly and Malnard Sax-
ton.
A reception was held at the
home of the bride's parents. Pour

Friday for a month's vacation in
Victoria and Vancouver, B. C. He

Mrs. Ward Wolfe, president of the
district Veterans of Foreign Wars
auxiliary, presided at a district
meeting held in VFW hall Wednes
day night. Talks were given by de
partment officers, Edith Mudd and
Alma Fierst, and plans discussed for
the annual district picnic to be
held at Silver Creek Falls on Au
gust 10.

Of interest to friends in many
parta of Oregon is news of the mar
riage of Miss Mae Callaway, daugh
ter of Professor and Mrs. E. C. Cal
laway of Oregon State college, and
Lester Copenhagen, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Copenhagen of Port
land. The ceremony took place on
July 3 at the Little Church of the
Flowers In Forest Lawn Memorial
park in Glcndale. Cal. Bev. J. Whit
comb Brougher, Sr., officiated in a
setting of flowers and candlelight.
Miss Rae Callaway, the bride's sis
ter, was her only attendant, and
James C. Elms was best man.
The bride wore her traveling en
semble of blue covert cloth with
navy accessories and a corsage bou
quet of white butterfly orchids. Her
sister wore a suit of beige wool with
matching accessories.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Copenhagen
are graduates of Oregon State col
lege. Mr. Copenhagen was a mem
ber of Phi Delta Thcta and Mrs.
Copenhagen was a member of Pi
Beta Phi, and president of Associat
ed Women students at the college.
At present she Is secretary of the
National Association of Associated
Women students.
After the reception for the family
and a few friends In the Ouardlan
Arms on Hollywood boulevard the
bride and bridegroom left for San
Diego, where they will make their
home at 4058 Front street.
