The Quakers said the new group would be known as the Oregon Yearly Meeting of Friends com mittee and would operate separ ately from the American Friends service committee. Raymond Wilson of the Phila delphia yearly meeting said that the Quakers, Church of the Brethren and Mennonltes, with four other religious groups, were expected to finance the work camps under gov ernmental approval but that the United States would take over con trol if it was offered. Committeemen included Dr. Earl P. Barker of Cascade college, Paul Wienke of Portland, Rev. Charles Haworth and Rev. Owen Williams of Salem. LESLIE METHODIST S . Commer cial Si Myers Sts. Dean C. FRESH STRAWBERRY Hinson Choir Here Sunday On Sunday afternoon, June 15, at 3:00 o'clock, the Hlnson choir of the Hinson Memorial Baptist church, Portland, will give a pro gram of choral and organ music in the First Baptist Church of Salem, Rev. Irving A. Fox, pastor. The Hinson choir is under the di rection of Lauren B. Sykes, A.A. G.O., who will conduct from the console and furnish a group of organ selections. This choir Is one of six choirs in the Hinson church, the total of which is 165 voices. Each year the Hinson choir tours some portion of the Pacific coast in an effort to create Interest in good church music and raise the standard . of church worship music in general. Last year when the choir sans In Victoria, B.C., Canada, Dr. Per cy C. Hull, organist of Hereford Cathedral, England, said In a re cent communication, "We still have pleasant recollections of the very fine evening of music given by you (Mr. Sykes) and your keen and en thusiastic choir in Victoria and the splendid, artistic results achieved." The Hlnson choir is a 27 selected voice group which sings its pro gram entirely by memory with ac companiment and a cappella.
