The Capital Journal, Salem, Oregon Monday, October 21, 1940 Funeral Tuesday For Prominent Salem Woman Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Kura Zosel will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, at the ClouBh-Barrlck chapel. Rev. O. P. llenlng and Rev. J. E. Campbell will officiate and interment will be in Bclcrest Memorial park. Mrs. Zosel, 76, who for 40 years had been active In community and church affairs In and about Salem, passed away at her home at Liberty Friday. She had been In falling health for mora than a year. Mrs. Zosel was born June 22, 1884, at Waterloo, Wis., a daughter of John and Sophia Herman Kurz. She was married at Wadena, Minn., November 20, 1889, to William Zo sel. In 1899 they came to Oregon and settled at Liberty where they have lived continuously since. Mrs. Zosel was a member of the Red Hills Grange, the Liberty Wom an's club and the First Evangelical church of Salem. Mr. and Mrs. Zosel celebrated their golden wed ding anniversary last year. She Is survived by her widower, William Zosel, and eight children, Mrs. Arthur Reynolds, Mrs. Charles Elrey and Mrs. Armand Strohecker, all of Portland; Mrs. William Carl son, of Longrlew, Wash., Mrs. Claude Stevenson, Miss Mlldred.Zo sel, Walter and Harold Zosel, an Two Republican Rallies Scheduled Two republican rallies are sched uled for this week, the first at the Jefferson Masonic hall Tuesday night for the Jefferson, Sidney and Marion precincts and the second in Campbell's hall at Independence Wednesday evening. Prank J. Lonergan, of Portland, will speak at Jefferson with Dr. B. P. Pound, county central commit tee chairman, presiding. Mrs. J. Vinton Scott, of Balem, will speak. The musical program arranged by Mrs. Rex Hartley Includes group singing and selections by Rex Hart ley, accompanied by Mrs. George Hunderson. Refreshments will be served by Mrs. Karl Stelwer and Mrs. Eugene Flnlay, assisted by Mrs. Hartley. Mrs. Warren Gray, Mrs. L. L. Shields, Mrs. Cleave Hampton. Mrs. James Stewart and Miss Mar Jorle Fontaine. Perry Wells, of Buena Vista, re publican committeeman and chair man for the educational commit tee for Polk county, is In charge of the arrangements at Independence. Irl McSherry, of the state board of pardons and paroles, will speak. Mrs. D. A. Hoag of Monmouth, commltteewoman, will have charge of the music for the program. Bentson of 515 South Second street on the observance of his first birth day anniversary, with his mother arranging for a group of relatives and kiddles as guests. Williams, Mrs. Gilbert Moser, the Misses Mur iel and Elsie Bentson, aunts of the host, Miss Katherine Slawson, Mrs. Wesley Williams, Mrs. Orlo Thomp son, Mrs. Millard Shelton, Mrs. Alma Vearrier, Mrs. William Leitch, Mrs. Perl Bye, Mrs. Elmo Ltndholm, Mrs. John George, Mrs. Clifford Bentson of Salem, Mrs. Rolfe S. Bentson, with the youthful guests of Wade, Clifford and James Bent son of Salem, twin cousins of the honored guest, Johnnie D. and Sha ron Lee George, Pamela Llndholm, Stewart Bye, Dale Bailey, Dickie Vearrier, Peter Shelton and Jerry Thompson. Program Arranged For Community Club profession. The scholars of the school will present a comedy skll under the direction of the princi pal, Mrs. Geraldlne Imper. A com munity sing and spelling contest will be featured during the evening. The community club meetings are always held on the fourth Friday of each month and all local newcom ers and others interested are ex tended a cordial Invitation to at all meetings.
