H. Prlncehouse, Br., entertained at her home. Early Summer flowers predominated the decorative theme In the living room where the guests spent the evening embroidering tea towels for the bride-to-be. The group plans to visit points or scenic Interest In the north and visit antique shops. Miss Klelnsorge has one of the finest collections of old glass In Oregon. Executive Board Meets Friday Mrs, Dorothy Linfoot, president of the fialem Business and Profes sional Women's club, has called a meeting of the executive board and requests that all committee chair men bring their annual reports of activities during the past year. The meeting will be held at Mrs. Lin foot's home, 1848 Saginaw street, at 7:30 o'clock Friday evening. After the meeting light refreshments will be served. Mrs. D. A. Bulmore entertained informally at tea in her apartments at the Royal Court this afternoon in compliment to Mrs. Carl G. Collins on the occasion of her birthday an niversary. Mrs. Victor R. Griggs and her daughter, Miss Emlyn, of Portland were visitors In the capital Friday. Mrs. Stanley Allen and son of Pendleton are visiting at the home of Mrs. Allen's mother, Mrs. Addle Curtis. Silver Tea Benefits Center The Woman's Relief Corps will sponsor a silver tea at the Salem Youth Center, located In the mu nicipal auto park, Thursday after noon with proceeds going to buy equipment for the Center. Miss Lois Sumpter Honors Bride Miss Lois Sumpter entertained with a dinner at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Sumpter in Dallas, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Beutell, whose marlage was an event of last week. Mrs. Beutell Is the former Ruth Hanson, who was Instructor at the Salem secretarial school prior to her marriage- Mr. Beutell Is con nected with the Oregon Pulp and Paper company. The table was attractively decor ated with pastel pink snapdragons in a crystal bowl and matching candles and holders. The bridal motif was carried out throughout the dinner. Covers were placed for the honor guests, Mr. and Mrs. Beutell, Orall Smith, Dean Thompson, Tommy La Duke of Salem, and the hostess, Lois Sumpter. Friends of Mrs. Sherman Thomp son, Miss Lou Thompson and Mrs. Thompson Kilts regret to learn that they will leave Salem late in June to make their home at Lake Oswego, where they have Just completed building a new residence. Daniel-Wolverton Vows Are Exchanged Monmouth One of the season's attractive wedding ceremonies was that of last Saturday afternoon at the chapel of St. Hilda's Episcopal church, when Miss Grace Leto Wol verton, daughter of O. A. Wolver ton of Monmouth, exchanged mar riage vows with Clarence M. Daniel, son of Mrs. Vonla Daniel of Elkton. Rev. Vincent Gray of Corvallis read the service at 4 o'clock. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in pate blue embroidered marquisette and wore a matching hat. She carried nosegay of pink tea roses and white fuchsia. Mrs. Glen Brledwell of Sllverton, matron of honor, wore rose lace and matching hat. She carried a bouquet of Summer flow ers. Lawrence Arant of Portland act ed as best man for Mr. Daniel and ushers were Glen Brledwell of Sll verton and Milton Boiler of Mon mouth. Master Larry Laraway of Los Angeles was ring bearer. The church was beautifully decorated with white gladioli and white del phinium. Preceding the ceremony Law rence Maves of Salem Bang "O Promise Me." The accompanist, Milton Hers of Portland, also play ed the wedding music. After the ceremony a reception was held at the O. A. Wolverton residence In Jackson atreet, Mrs. R. P. DeBorde of Portland cut the cake. Mrs. William Horton of Portland poured. Mrs. D. J. Boiler, the bride's sister, presided at the punch bowl. Dispensing hospitali ties were Mrs. Charles Ackerman, Portland, the Misses Barbara and Adele Laraway, Los Angeles, Mrs. Fred Hill and Mrs. Marion Fresh. The serving table was centered with an arrangement of sweet peas and Cecil Bruenner roses. Blue and white delphiniums were used about the guest rooms. For going away the bride wore a black tallleur with peach acces sories and white gardenias. The couple will live In Portland where Mr. Daniel Is In the employ of the city. Mrs. Daniel Is an alumna of the Oregon Normal school and has at tended the University of California at Los Angeles. She Is a member of the Portland school faculty. Mr. Daniel is an alumnus of Oregon State college at Corvallis. Mrs. Daniel was much feted prior to her wedding. Isaac Watkina will speak on the "Influence of Art on Nature," Fri day evening, June 33, at I o'clock. He will Illustrate his lecture. Dr. Burt Brown Barker, vice president of the University of Oregon and widely known author ity on the history of the northwest, will lecture on "Research Experi ences In Hudson's Bay Company Archives In London" at the Center Monday night, June 36, at I o'clock. He will reveal for the first time in Salem recently discovered facts In Oregon history. Last Summer Dr. Barker was able, through research in the ar chives of the Hudson's Bay Com pany in London, to bring to light previously unknown facts about the founding and settlement of this part of the country. The Interested public Is Invited to both lectures. There is no charge and seating capacity is limited to 100- Miss Emlyn Griggs Luncheon Hostess A group of Salem matrons and maids were bidden to a luncheon in Portland Monday when Miss Emlyn Griggs entertained at her home in the Alameda. Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Biggs of Prine vllle were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe W. Clark. Bass-Shields Rites Sunday Monmouth Miss Leila Shields, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Shields of Amity, became the bride of Chester Buss, son of Mr. and Mrs. , Harold Buss of Monmouth, in a pretty rite Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the chapel of the Amity church. The Rev. Lowell Hoggard officiated. The bride wore white lace of floor length and a head bandeau of white ! flowers harmonizing with her arm bouquet of white flowers. Miss Dor othy Shields, dressed In royal blue taffeta, floor length, was her sis ter's maid of honor. Raymond Yung of Monmouth served as best man for the bride groom, j One hundred guests were present for the reception which Immediately followed the ceremony in the parlors of the church. Mr. and Mrs. Buss are both for mer students of the Oregon College of Education and Mr. Buss Is a graduate of Monmouth high school. They are honeymooning at the Ore gon beaches. They will live In Mon mouth. Marriage Revealed Tuesday at Party sllverton Mrs. Anand Schwab (Anna Larson) announced her mar riage to a group of friends Tuesday afternoon at an affair at the home of her father, Louis B. Larson, on East Hill. The news came as a complete sur prise to her many friends. The wedding was solemnized April 1 of this year at Stevenson, Washington. Mr. Schwab, better known among the baseball fans as "Babe," Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schwab. He attended Willamette university following his graduation from the Sllverton schools. Legion Auxiliary Juniors Elect Sllverton At the meeting of the American Legion auxiliary Monday night an unusual condition was vealed when officers wera elected to serve for the coming year. Mrs. Clifton Dickerson, chosen as president of the unit, was informed that her daughter, Vadia Dickerson, was elected president of tha junior auxiliary. Mrs. Carl Haugen, vice president, was matched with her daughter, Elmlra Haugen, being vice-president of the Juniors, and Mrs. George Towe, secretary, had her niece, Miss Dorothy Towe, elect' ed secretary of the juniors. Palmateer was unanimously elected to serve her unit as president for the ensuing year. 8he has been very active In the auxiliary for some time and has just completed her year's work in the unit as rehabili tation chairman, and Is a member of the convention commission. It was voted to give $1 towards the John McLough- lln Bust fund of Oregon City, the statue to be placed near the falls. The Marlon county assembly of the legion and auxiliary will gather for a picnic at Hazel Green Sunday with the meeting of the auxiliary convening at 11 o'clock In the hall. Each will provide a basket lunch with coffee available on the grounds. The Sllverton post and unit are acting as hosts.
