L. Laws country place In Mornlngside this afternoon honoring Miss Jean David, popular visitor from Miami, Fla. Covers were placed for Miss Da vid, Mrs. William McOilchrist, Jr., Miss Josephine McGilchrist, Mrs Donald C. Roberts, Mrs. Eugenia Harrison. Mrs. L. L. Laws and the hostess. Miss Frances Laws. The all-church picnic of the First Christian church Woman's council will be held at Hazel Green Friday night at 6.30 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. William Monroe Hamilton were' Portland visitors Wednesday. Mrs. Carlton Smith Entertains Guests Mrs. W. Carlton Smith has been entertaining Mr. and Mrs. George Jones of San Francisco as her house guests In Salem and at her Neskowin beach place. Mr. and Mrs. Jones are former Salem residents. Mr. Jones Is a former superintendent of the Oregon state school for the blind. Senator and Mrs. Charles L. Mc Nary are arranging a tea for repub lican groups and have set August 20 as the date. The affair will be held at the McNary country place, Fir cone, north of Salem. Mrs. Charles E. Runyon and Mrs. George Oer linger of Portland will be In charge of the arrangements. The annual picnic sponsored by the Council of Churchwomen, com posed of Salem women and those in the Immediate vicinity, will be held at the home of Mrs. L. M. Scharf, 2037 Nebraska, Tuesday at 12:30 o'clock. The - executive board ses sion will be held at 1:30 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a nlcnic luncheon. Mrs. Karl Ziebert Honored Guest Hazel Green Mrs. Albert Hasle b acker and Mrs. Adam Ziebert were hostesses at a complimentary show er honoring Mrs. Karl Ziebert. The affair was held at the Adam Ziebert home and the afternoon was spent with music and social conversation. The honored guest received a num ber of gifts which were displayed to the guests. Refreshments were served at the tea hour by the hos tesses, assisted by Miss Rose Zie bert. Present for the afternoon were Mrs. Henry Ra.smus.sen and daugh ters, Carol and Marilyn, Mrs. Knute Tuve, Mrs. Leona Jackson, Mrs. Martin Baughman, Miss Caroline Kasper, Miss Rose Ziebert, Miss Ce celia Kasper and the hostesses, Mrs. Albert Haslebacker and Mrs. Adam Ziebert. The bast noble grand association of Salem Rebekah lodge, No. 1, will hold Its annual picnic for members and their families in the park at Stayton Sunday, July 24. All visiting past noble grands are invited to at tend. The president of the club, Ma bel Gardner, will be assisted by Eve lyn Naderman and Ida Hochstetler. Mrs. W. E.
