Lee Wood, Is the center of a whirl of Informal entertaining before she deserts the ranks of the Spinsters, of which she is president, September 1, when she will become the bride of William Bodner of Corvallls. And so the Summer draws to a close with happy memories of visitors, travelers, weddings, informal luncheons, teas and splash parties Soon the young things will be packed off to school and club activities will commence again for matrons and maids. Much interest Is being evinced in the approach ing wedding of Miss Kathleen Llndbeck. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Lindbeck, and Ivan W. Crum, son of Mrs. Mary Crum of Medford. The ceremony will be said next Saturday after noon at 2:30 o'clock at the Llndbeck home in South High street. Dr. James E. MUligan will read the service in the presence of the two families and a few Intimate friends. Mrs. Walter A. Denton will play the wedding march and Miss Wllletta Sneed will sing "I Love You Truly" and "Oh, Promise Me." Che bride will be given In marriage by her father. She will wear a striking model of white satin, fash ioned with a stand-up collar embellished with, pearls, long sleeves and train. Her veil will be caught in a cap with orange blossoms and she will carry a bouquet of bride's roses. Miss Madeline Sleppy will be the honor attend, ant She will wear a gown of bronze taffeta and carry an arm bouquet of Talisman roses. . Lester Lynch of Corvallls will be the best man. A large reception will be held from 3 to 4 o'clock. Assisting in serving will be the Misses Adelaide Liddle, Veva Schattuck. Mrs. Hoyt Snyder, Mrs. Alex Cruick ahank and Miss Evelyn Hesse, sorority sisters of the bride. Later the couple will leave for a short wedding trip. Miss Llndbeck is a graduate of Salem schools and was a member of Alpha XI Delta at Oregon Stat college. Mr. Crum Is a graduate of Oregon 8 late and is now In the forestry service. He Is a member of Beta Kappa. Mr. and Mrs. James Hardy are being felicitated upon the birth of a son, James Stewart, at the Salem General hospital August 1. KING-MARTIN The First Evangelical church will be the scene of a beautiful ceremony Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock when Miss Irma Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barney 8. Martin, becomes the bride of Joseph Jerone King, Jr.. son of the J. J. Kings of Portland, formerly of Salem. The Rev. Mr. John Rudln will officiate. The altar will be banked with gladiolus in soft pastel colors and cathedral tapers will cast a solt glow over the wedding party as they witness the exchange of vows. Mrs. J. Hi Bennett will play the organ and pre ceding the service William Wright will sing '"At Dawn ing" and "I Love You Truly." The bride will be given in marriage by her brother, Linden Martin. She will wear a gown of white moire, designed with tight bodice, full skirt, long train and off the shoulder effect. A Juliet cap will hold the full length veil in place. The bride will carry an old fashioned nosegay. Miss Janet Frye will be the maid of honor. She will wear a gown of leaf green taffeta made along princess lines. The bridesmaids will include the Misses Esther Vehrs, Shirley Knighton, Virginia Wassam, Harriet Pointer and Mrs. Maurice Heater. They will wear princess frocks in yellow and bronze trimmed In brown velvet ribbon. They will also carry old-fashioned bouquets. Gay Riggs, niece of the bride, will serve as flower girl. Frits Amman of Los Angeles will act as best man for Mr. King. Ushers will Include Buster Hen-en. Don Cannon, Howard Adams and Glenn Wilbur. A reception will follow at the Alpha Phi Alpha house with members of the wedding party and the two families receiving informally. Dispensing hospitalities at the urns will be Mrs. Earl Riggs and Mrs. George Vehrs. Mrs. John Rudln and Mrs. Vem Wells will cut the bride's cake. For going away the bride has chosen a brown tallleur with dark green accessories and a corsage of gardenias. The couple will leave by motor for Black Mountain college in North Carolina, where Mr. King has an lnstructorshlp in economics. The bride, who was an Alpha Phi Alpha at Willamette university, will matriculate at the college. En route to their new home the couple will stop In San Francisco to visit Mr. and Mrs. Lee Cos (Claudia Buntln), formerly of Salem, and will also spend some time at Leland Stanford, from which Mr. King was graduated. They will visit in Cheyenne with relatives and also stop In Chicago. After a short stop at Lexington, Kentucky, they will be at home at Black Mountain. EVANS-ENTRESS A pretty wedding of the late lummer will be solemnized this evening at 8 o'clock when Miss Evelyn En tress, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, W. J. Entrees, be comes the bride of John B. Evans, son of Mr. and Mrs. J, W. Evans. The ceremony will be said at the Entrees home In South Commercial street with Rev. H. C. Stover officiating. The vows will be exchanged before the fireplace, which will be decorated with pink and white gladiolus. The bride will wear a gown of blue slipper satin, fashioned with long skirt and high neck. She will carry a Colonial bouquet of Cecil B runner roses and sweet peas. There will be no attendants. A reception will rouow. The serving table will be covered with a lace cloth and cen tered with a crystal bowl filled with mixed flowers. She took her technical training at Good Samaritan hospital and has been connected with the Salem General hospital for th past two years. Mrs. Dorothy Watney of Portland was a luncheon hostess Friday, entertaining for Miss Muriel Gabriel, bride-elect of Charles H. Heltzel of Salem. The Misses Regina DeArmond and Esther Rumbough will enter tain with a dinner dance at the Heathman hotel this evening honoring the engaged couple. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bergman returned to their home in Baker Sunday after a visit in the capital. Misa Dorothy Pearce and Ml as Helen Yockey are expected home this week-end from a cruise in Alas kan waters. C. R. Thatcher is announcing the approaching marriage of his daughter, Miss Myrle Thatcher, and Pete McCaffery. Dekum In Portland was the scene of a beautiful chris tening service Wednesday afternoon, for their grand daughters, Linda Dekum and Mary Prancesca. two-and-a-half-year-old- twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Shel don Tlbbett Mills (Franceses Dekum), who ar In Oregon from Bucharest, Rumania, where Mr. Mill Is connected with the American consulate. An un usual, though lovely, feature of the ceremony was that It was performed by the little girls' grandmother, the Rev. Mary Mills, pastor of the First Church of Truth In Pasadena, Cal., who was assisted by Dr. James E. Dodd. pastor of the Church of Truth In Portland. The children were named for their grand mothers, and the godparents were relatives and old family friends. Mrs. Edward H. Peck of Warren, Ohio, a girlhood friend of Mrs. Dekum, and Fred Blckel are the godparents of Linda, with Mra J. R. Meyers, Mr. Dekum's sister, acting for Mra. Peck. Th Rev.
