Walls of Portland, the new president of the Oregon Con gress of Parents and Teachers, will head a contingent of state officers and chairmen who will motor to Salem Saturday to conduct a school of Instruction In conjunction with the day's meeting of the Marlon County Council of Parent-Teacher associations, to be held at the Y M. O. A. Others making the trip will In clude Mrs. P. W. Blum, vice-presi dent; Mrs. Bert V. Chappel, corre sponding secretary; Mrs. J. B. Ward, membership chairman, all of Portland: Mrs. Sam Bellah of Os wego, and Mrs. R. P. Rasmussen of Hlllsboro. The group will be joined here by Mrs. Otto Lance of Albany, a vice-president. "What It's All About, "It De pends on You," and "Ask Mr. Quiz" are Just a few of the intriguing title announced for various phases of the instruction to be offered to pa rent-teacher members who plan to attend. The program Is designed to offer inspiration as well as information as to the policies, alms and me chanics of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, and is Just one of several Institutes which have been conducted in every section of the slate during the past year. Mrs. Lance will install presidents of local units at the council meet ing preceding the school of lnstruc tlon. Coates Hostess to Club The final meeting and Installa tlon of the new officers of the Prlngle Woman's club was an event of Wednesday at the home of Mrs, E. S. Coates, 1451 State street. New officers for the year are Mrs. E. S. Coates, president: Mrs. J. W. Keys, vice-president; Mrs. P. R. Clarke, secretary-treasurer and Mrs. Oeorge Adams, reporter. A pleasant social afternoon followed a brief business session with the newly elected offi cers presiding. The guest list included Mrs. George Adams, Mrs. Charles Qra benhorst. Mrs. O. T. Sealey. Musical Service at Knight Memorial In a musical-dramatic service Sunday evening the Knight Me morial Players will present again by request the drama "Thy Son Liveth, by Maryann Manly. The players are Ray Drakeley as the Wayfarer; Harold Melchart, as the Greek: H. S. Stover as the Sad ducee; Allene Moored as the old woman, and Horace Belden as the boy. A ladies quartet composed of Beneltta Harland, Caryol Braden Harriett Adams and Pearl Eyre will be featured in three numebrs, "The Master Passes By," Hammond "Crossing the Bar," Neidllnger; "O Shephard of Israel, Morrison. A mixed quartet singing "The Voice In The Wilderness." Scott, and a solo "By the Waters of Baby lon, Speaks, sung by Allene Moor ed are Included In the musical prelude. The duet "Crucifix" hy Paure sung by two of the players, Ray Drakeley and Allene Moored, is the climax of the drama. Prom Evinces Much Interest A gala event of tonight for Sil vertons younger set will be the Junior-Senior prom. During the first dance Miss Llleth Neil will be crowned queen and her princesses will include the Misses Prances Walker, Eleanor Carroll, Eleanor Bolme, Betty Frances. A birthday cake was a feature of the afternoon and the red and white color motif was carried out in the appointments. Baptist Rally In Corvallis Over a dozen churches of the Central Willamette valley will send young people as their delegates to a rally of Baptist young people to be held Saturday, May 22, In the First Baptist church of Corvallis. The afternoon session which com mences at I o'clock will be given over to conferences. One will be for young people of the high school age with another for students in college. These conferences will center around the subject, "Is Christ Adequate for My Life," and "How May I Know and Live Out God's Purpose for My Life." Lead ers have been carefully chosen from Albany. Corvallis. Monmouth and Portland, to conduct these discus sion groups. The address of the afternoon "Christ Answers Honest Doubt and Inquiry." will be deliv ered by Rev. Arno Q. Weniger, pas tor of the Calvary Baptist church. Salem. T. H. Hagen. director of Christian education for the Ore gon Baptist state convention, will bring the afternoon sessions to a climax. He will be assisted by State President Manley. The young people of the Corvallis Baptist church have planned an excellent program around the theme "Come and See." A banquet will be served at 6:30 with four responses and toasts, Those making the responses will represent Lacomb, McMinnvllle, Salem and Albany. The evening service will feature a fine program of special music with the closing message by Rev. Elmer A. Junker of Albany on the subject, "The Challenges of Christ." State leaders have pronounced the program one of the finest ever pre pared for Baptist young, people in their mid-year rallies. Mrs. L. D. Mars Feted at Party Mrs. Robert Boardman entertain ed at her home in East Nob Hill Thursday afternoon for the pleasure of Mrs. L. D. Mars, who is leaving to make her home in Hlllsboro. Chapter Has Birthday Lebanon The 18th birthday of chapter V, P.E.O., was the occasion for an anniversary luncheon at Ho tel Lebanon Tuesday afternoon and later an afternoon's program at the home of Mrs. Joel Mayer on East Ash street. In the years since Its organization, chapter V has had 54 members, many of whom are no longer here. A num ber of these absentees wrote letters for this special anniversary affair and these were read by Mrs. Stanley 8tewart. Only three members are no longer living and in memory of these an impressive candlelight ceremony, in which music and Tennyson's "Crossing the Bar" were used, was part of the program. The rooms of the Mayer home were attractively decorated by arrange ments of dogwood and other garden flowers.
