OREGON Society, Clubs and Music stfjtee b Kerens Byre, rheot mtj Paul Howell to Wed Miss Keynolds The marriage of Miss Margaret Reynolds of Salem, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Reynolds of Eugene, to Paul Howell of Salem, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Howell of Troutdale, will be solemnized December 26 at the home of the bride's parents. Rev. Norman K. Tully will officiate at the service, which will be at 8 o'clock. Mrs. Helen Wadlelgh of Seattle, will be her sister's only attendant, and Qulncy Howell, of Portland will be best man for his brother. Miss Dorothy Howell, sister of the bride groom, will play the wedding music, and the bride's mother, Mrs. Rey nolds, will sing. W. E. Reynolds will give his daughter in marriage. Only members of the two families and a very few Intimate friends will attend the ceremony, and an in formal reception will follow for those present. Following their marriage the cou ple will live in Salem, where both are employed by the state. Both attended the University of Oregon, from which Miss Reynolds was graduated from the school of archi tecture. Christmas Party For Young Folk Mrs. David Eason entertained with a gay Chflstmas party at her home this afternoon complimenting mem bers of the Monday Flaying class. Bidden were Patsy Zosel, Nancy Bur en, Caroline and Charles Robert son, Margaret Cooley, Miriam Becke, Marilyn Wyatt, Horace Beldln, Eliz abeth Nelson, Adele Hayes, Susanna Schramm, Marjorle Reeves, Barbara Bell, Betty Mercer, Eileen Gooden ough, Margaret Hood and Caroline Brown. House-Warming Friday Event Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Lermon of route 7, Salem, were surprised by friends and neighbors at a house warming In their new home Friday evening. Present were Mrs. D. L. Silver Cliff ' ' Club in Session Silver CUff The Silver Cliff Wo man's club met at the Floyd Fox home Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Carrie Townsend: and Mrs. Floyd Fox as hostesses. The family party will be held at the home of Mrs. Geneva Hubbard January 16. This will be followed by series of benefit card parties. A box of toys was made up for the Children's Farm home. A Christmas tree with exchange of gifts of the members was enjoyed by all, followed by refreshments served by the hostesses. Those present were Mrs. Arthur Heater, Mrs. Geneva Hubbard, Mrs. E. W. Garver, Miss Earla Garver, Mrs. Abel Charpilloz, Mrs. Town- send and Mrs. Fox. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. E. W. Garver in Sllverton January 7. i Sllverton On the occasion of the 90th birthday anniversary of J. W. Brock in Salem Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mulkey and sons and Mrs. Frank Armstrong of the Valley View community were among the guests for the day. The Brocks re cently returned to their Salem home from several years' residence in Sll verton. Monmouth Mr and Mrs. J. O Russell motored over from Salem Sunday to be dinner guests of his mother, Mrs. M. J. Russell, and family. One of the most charming of the Christmas parties was that for which Prof, and Mrs. T. 8. Roberts were hosts Friday night at their home in North Summer street in compliment to members of the Yomarco class of the First Methodist church. Over 75 guests attended the affair. The evening was spent Informally with refreshments served at a late hour by the hostess. Several Christ mas stories and talks were given by members of the class, and a musical program given. The studio and downstairs rooms were festive with holiday decora tions. Blue lights were effectively used In the upstairs studio. Christ was trees, wreaths and holly decor ated the .rooms. Judson Pratts Hosts at Affair Mr. and Mrs. Judson W. Pratt were delightfully surprised Saturday eve ning when a group of friends gath ered at their home In East Washing ton street in honor of their fortieth wedding anniversary. The evening was spent at cards and those receiv ing high scores were Mrs. Irene Bowes, Mrs. Mabelle Gardner, Henry Curtis and W. H. Gardner. Mrs. Tomlinson Is a sister of Mrs. Roy Walln, and Tomlinson Is an employe of the Walln cannery In Sllverton. They plan to make their residence here. Monmouth Plans for the 60th consecutive annual reunion of the Butler family, always held In Mon mouth on Christmas eve, are well under way. General committees appointed for this year Include J. Butler and Mrs. W. L. Smith, pro gram and entertainment. Couple to be Here in January A wedding planned for the day after Christmas Is that of Miss Lova Buchanan, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Buchanan, Sr., of Eugene, who will be married to Bernard Young of Roseburg at 8 o'clock In the Congregational church In Eu gene. Miss Oayle Buchanan, younger sister of the bride, will be her only attendant, and A. A. Young, broth er of the bridegroom, will be best man. The Rev. Mr. Edwards ol Roseburg' will officiate by Robert Gould, organist, and Miss Brandon Young, harpist. A reception at the Buchanan home will follow the ceremony, and the couple will leave for a wedding trip. During the coming session of the state legislature, Mr. Young, who Is representative-elect from Doug las county, will take his bride to Salem to reside, but they plan to make their permanent home In Roseburg. Order of Eastern Star, at a gala af fair Saturday night at the Masonic temple. Past Grand officers of the lodge were also bidden. The guest list Included 50 prominent folk In Eastern Star circles. The Salem Woman's club trio sang during the evening and solos were given by Richard Smart, accompan ied by Mrs, Belle Niles Brown. Mo nopoly and cards were in play later In the evening and supper was served. The long and attractive tables were centered with large stars cen tered with burning tapers. Hadley was elected as president for the en suing year of the home economics club of the Sllverton Hills grange when the group was entertained at the home of Mrs. Oeorge Benson at an all-day quilting bee and business session. Watch Night Plans Made by Rebekahs Sllverton Santa Ulaus paid a vis it to the Tryphena Rebekah lodge of Sllverton Thursday evening. He found a large attendance of mem bers with their families and friends. After greeting the children he pre sented each one present with a sack of candy, an orange, also a gift from the tree. Following Santas visit the children played games while their parents were served coffee and cookies. A committee consisting of Mrs. Bessie Costs, Mrs. Clara Helmke, Mr. John Oehrke, Mr. George Busch are arranging the entertain ment for watch night, December 31.
