VACATION POSTPONED Jefferson Mrs. Ed Jones and daughter Patty of Milwaukee, Wis., arrived Wednesday for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George C. Mason. Smith, director of the new WPA setup for eight counties to have charge of spending a liberal share of government money on work projects, announced this morning that he and Harold E. Ea kin, named as finance officer for the project, have taken temporary offices in the chamber of com merce here. Eakin will be there to hear any offers for rooms for permanent headquarters of the setup which will be headquarters for the eight counties. Director Smith said they wish to secure from eight to 10 rooms, of a mod ern type, not in a shack, and these headquarters will probably houee from 20 to 30 people. Others who will assist Director Smith here are D. G. Metcalf, placement officer, who has been placement officer with the SERA; Tom Sheridan, engineer, who has been engineer for the SERA in one of the counties In this district, and John J, Karstetter, engineer, also connected with a government ac tivity. Further naming of assist ants and help will be made from the various counties in the district with approval of E. J.
