G. Malson at the home of the form er when they entertain at tea in compliment to legislators' wives and matrons and maids of the capi tal city. Mrs. Malson and Mrs. Irwin will receive informally in the drawing -room from 3 until 6 o'clock, with 150 bidden to call. Sevres vases will hold red tulips and Ivory tapers In crystal candelabra will cost a soft glow over the room. Eight tables of pinochle and three tables of "500" were in play. Mrs. Marie Dawes and Gilbert Wourms were awarded high scores in pinochle and Gloria Heater and Ed Klecker consolation. Simonds will entertain informally at tea on Wednesday afternoon at the parsonage for the new executive committee of the Wo man's Union of the First Congrega tional church. At the last meeting of the union it was voted to change the meeting day from the first and third Wed nesdays to the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. Plans were also announced for an attend ance contest to be held from the firt of February until Easter. Kingwood Club Entertained Kingwood Mrs. Charles N. Hath away was hostess to the Book and Thimble club Thursday afternoon at her home on the Kingwood Heights road and Edgewater street for its regular meeting. Fancy- work, games and sociability feat ured the occasion after the usual routine business was transacted. Mrs. Ross Damrell and Mrs. L. F. Brown each presented novel and instructive feature games, involving knowledge of Oregon scenery, automobiles and flowers in the en tertainment offered. Mrs. David A. Williams invited the matrons to her home all day January 31 to sew for the disabled veterans, with a pot-luck luncheon to feature the noon hour. W, O. A. The organization, during the winter months, has been studying various cities and countries of interest, and Mrs, Claude Glenn spoke on Ireland and its interesting customs at the din ner meeting. The purpose of the club, In It studies, is to become acquainted with the habits and cus toms of other lands. Extensive plans are being com pleted for a "nntlon-wlde" ban quet, in which all similar clubs will participate.
