White To Marry Washington Girl On Sunday ALEM folk will be Interested to learn that Ivan B. White, ion of Dr. and Mrs. B. H. White of Salem, will be married In Seabeck, CIS Wash., Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock to Miss Dorothy Halvorsen, daughter of Mrs. Albert Halvorsen. The ceremony will be solemnized at the home of the bride's mother in the presence of Immediate members of the two families. An informal re- ceptlon will follow. Directly after the reception Ole couple will leave by motor for Van couver, B. O, from whence they will sail on the Prince Qeorge for a cruise in Alaskan waters. Upon their return they will be at home in Portland. The bride Is a graduate of the University of Washington where she was affiliated with Alpha XI gtelta sorority. Mr. White is the field adminis trator of the state relief adminis tration. He is a graduate of Wil lamette university and later took his master's degree at the Univer sity of Washington. He is affiliat ed with Alpha Tau Omega and Alpha Psi Delta social fraternities and Blue Key, service honorary. Going from Salem to attend the ceremony are Dr. and Mrs. B. H. White and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hardy (Eloise White). Prof. Davidson Gives Farewell Concert The First Christian church choir will give a concert at the church Sunday evening at 8 o'clock under the direction of Prof. Loren David son. The concert will be in the na ture of a farewell to Prof. David son, who will leave in the near fu ture for Baton Rouge, La., where he has accepted a position on the music faculty of the Louisiana State university. Mrs. Ellery Stone Takes Plane West Mrs. Ellery w. Stone and her two daughters, Patricia and Sally, are enroute to Portland from New York to spend the remainder of the summer with her parents, form er Governor and Mrs. Oswald West Mrs. stone flew out In June and ex pected to remain several weeks, but suddenly decided to return to hew York and bring out her chil dren. She left for the west on Thursday and is due In Portland on Monday. Mrs. Stone, the former Helen West, Is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sarah Hutton of Salem. The North Salem W. 0. T. U. will meet at the home of Mrs. Presnall, W9 Locust street on Tuesday after noon at 2:30 o'clock. Tea will be served in the late afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Wedding Of Local Interest Salem friends of Miss Esther Malkasian, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Malkasian of Eugene, will be interested to learn of her mar riage to Kenneth Hlrrons, which was an event of Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock in St. Mary's Episcopal church, Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. Hlrrons left on a short wedding trip and will make their home In Eugene. Eugene Spinsters Issue Cards Cards have been received by prominent Salem matrons and maids from the Eugene Spinsters inviting them to a garden tea next Friday afternoon in honor of the Oregon Trail queen and princesses The affair will be given at the home of Mrs. T. I. Chapman from 4 to 6 o'clock. Members of the Spinsters and Welfare League will serve as mod els at the Oregon Trail luncheon and style revue at the Eugene hotel next Thursday. Vows Said At Sublimity - Sublimity A lovely mid-summer wedding was solemnized Tuesday morning before a large gathering of relatives and friends at St. Boni face Catholic church with Rev. F. H. Scherbrlng officiating, when Miss Jinny Muir, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Mulr became the bride of Peter Boedighelmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. J, Boedighelmer. The bride wore a gown of white satin with veil held In place with orange blossoms and carried a sho wer bouquet of rosebuds and sweet peas. Miss Jinny Boedighelmer, sis ter of the groom, acted as brides maid. She wore yellow organdy and carried a bouquet of orchid sweet peas. Errol Klntz, cousin of the bride, served as best man for the groom. The wedding march was played by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Angeline Hassler. The St. Boniface choir sang the Guardian Angel Mass under the direction of the bride's mother, Mrs. Ed Meier, "Ave Maria" was sung at the offertory. The artist was presented with great success last season by the Los Angeles Drama tic Guild. The staging will be done by Lu cille Tucker Paulus, whose talent in this field was illustrated by her splendid staging of Rostand's "Ro mancers" this spring. The chorus will be augmented and applications should be made to Mrs. Louise Miltonbcrgcr at Miller's store to arrange for an audition with Prof. E. W. Hobson for the coming season. Work will be resum ed October 1 and all applications should be In by that time. Judge and Mrs. Harry Belt of Sa lem, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Starbuck and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Crider. all of Dallas, spent last week-end at the William Davis summer home on the Mt. Hood loop. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Double Wedding Event of Sunday Charming will be the double wed ding ceremony which will be said in the German Baptist church Sun day afternoon at 3 o'clock when Miss Elizabeth Becker becomes the bride of Arnold Fry of Dallas and Miss Susie Becker weds Henry Neu- man of Salem. Rev- Gustave Rutsch will read the service in the presence of relatives and friends. The altar will be decorated with gladioli In the soft pastel shades. Miss Ruth Wrlnkleman will play the wedding marches. The brides will wear similar gowns of white crepe, made along princess lines. They will wear tulle veils and carry shower bouquets of roses, car nations and baby breath. Miss Elizabeth Becker's attendant will be Miss Bertha Baer, who will be gowned in blue organdie, and carry an arm bouquet of summer garden flowers. Silas Perllch will serve as best man for Mr. Fry. Miss Susie Becker will be attend ed by Eva Plaep, who will wear a frock of pink georgette and carry an arm bouquet similar to Miss Baer's. George Neuman will be best man. Little Misses Dorothy Dalke and Irna Rutsch will be the flower girls. They will wear pink and blue or ganelle frocks and carry baskets of rose petals. A reception will- follow the cere mony in the church reception rooms for immediate relatives and a few close friends. The two couples will leave immediately afterward for the Oregon beaches. League Of Western Writers To Be Feted By Salem Pen Women NTEREST is being evinced in local literary circles in the convention to be held in Portland by the League of Western Writers, which will be in session from August 14 to 18. The league is composed of the leading authors of 15 western states. Is president of the group. She is the man of the Los Angeles library board. Three ex-presidents also plan to be present when the ses sion convenes, including Arthur Chamberlain, editor of Overland Monthly, Carl Holliday and Ben Field. Judge L. D. Mahone, president of the Portland chapter and member of the board of directors, is ar ranging a very Interesting program. There will be a poets' breakfast and numerous talks of a literary nature. Many famous western writers are expected such as Charles Keeler, Harry Wagner, Kathleen Norris, Ben Field, Chester Rowell, Witter Bynner and Lionel Stevenson. Mrs. Viola Price Franklin is chairman of the Salem chapter. Members include Mrs. Florence Cartwright, Mrs. Saroh H. Steeves, Mrs. J. C. Nelson, Mrs. John cui ford and Prof. W. E. Lawrence. This group will entertain the League on Saturday of the session with an Informal program of a historical nature. Joint Hostesses Preside at Party Independence The Woman's club building was the scene of a dessert bridge party Wednesday afternoon given by Mrs. Paul Robinson, Mrs. Lox Wheeler and Mrs. George C. Herley. The Idea of an aiternoon in a Japanese garden was carried out in the motif. Guests were greeted by the hostesses, who were gowned in brilliant Japanese robes, each one being presented with a chrysanthe mum. About the room were Japanese decorations and bouquets of vori hued flowers. Each table was cen tered with a tiny bouquet of sweet peas and baby-breath, and at each placC was a miniature Japanese um brella decorated in gay design.
