Caughell entertain ed the members of her contract bridge club with a smart evening of bridge in the Caughell residence on Market street Tuesday. Pussywillows and early spring flowers were used about the rooms where cards were In play. Mrs. Don Pritchett and Miss Mildred Christenson won high score honors. At the supper hour Mrs. Frank Chapman and Miss Josephine Baumgartner assisted Informally in the serving. Fortnightly Club Presents Comedy The Fortnightly club of the First Congregational church will present a 3-act play at the church on Wed nesday evening at 8 o'clock under the direction of Mrs. Mark McCal llster. The play, "Cousin Julia's Jade Earring," is a riotous comedy and well adapted to the cast of young folk who are appearing in it. The characters and cast for the interesting piece Includes Cousin Julia, Marjorle Drorbaugh; Mrs. Tucker, Marlon Siewert; Mr. Tuck er, Mark Powell; Tommy, Charles Siewert; Marjorle Tucker, Betty 8tewart; Rosle, the maid, Anoka Coates; Theodore Ballington Jones, Reid Hanson; Roddy Glen, Frank lin Van Pelt. On Friday evening the group will present the comedy at Liberty and on the following Wednesday they will appear before an audience at the girls' industrial school. Rotary Auxiliary Elects Officers The Marion hotel was the scene of an Interesting affair Monday afternoon when the Women of Ro tary met for luncheon and a short business meeting. The afternoon was spent informally at the home of Mrs. W. L. Phillips on West Leieiie street.. Officers elected during the after noon were Mrs. William McGil christ, Jr, president; Mrs. W. L. Phillips, vice-presiuent; Mrs. Homer Smith, Jr., secretary and Mrs. Wal ter Minler, treasurer. The board of trustees includes Mrs. W. H. Dancy, Mrs. Eric Butler, Mrs. J. Nuptials Announced The wedding of Miss Helyn Jane Hendrickson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hendrickson, and William Savage of Vancouver, B. C, was solemnized last Wednesday evening at a quiet ceremony In the rectory of St. Joseph's church at 8:30 o' clock, the Rev. Father Buck offi ciating. The bride was attractively gowned in soft blue lace with a packet and close fitting turban to match. Her bouquet was a lovely combination' of Talisman roses and freeslas, Miss Consuela Moline of Portland, who was Miss Hendrickson's maid-of-honor, wore a stunning gown of pale yellow crepe with turban to match and carried a corsage of Talisman roses. Henry Hendrickson, the bride's brother, acted as Mr. Sav age's best man. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents following the ceremony after which Mr. and Mrs. Savage left for a short trip to Port land and Mt. Hood. They will return to Salem for a few days before leaving for Vancouver where they will make their home. Past Matrons Plan Initiation The Past Matrons club will meet at Mrs. Ida Godfrey's for dinner at 7:30 o'clock on Friday evening. Ini tiation will be held for three new members dining the evening. Woman's Club To Entertain Independence-r-On next Tuesday afternoon the members of the Wom an's club will enjoy an afternflm of cards at their club rooms on Fourth street, with Mrs. A. L. Thomas as chairman. Committees on arrange ments have been assigned and this is to be a "White Elephant" party instead of a benefit party as was first scheduled. Members will select frpm among their least cared for household treasures, an article to take for the party. The winner of high score in the card games has first choice of articles on display. Chappell of Los Angeles, also at tended the University of Oregon and is affiliated with Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He formerly made his home in Salem and attended Salem public schools.
