Hoffman Miss Louise Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Allen, became the bride ol Raymond Hoffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Hoff man, at a charmingly simple cere mony at the home of the bride's parents Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, with Dr. W. O. Kantner reading the Impressive ring service before an improvised altar of fern and palm. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a striking gown of white satin, made Princess style, with a- lace-trimmed tulle veil and a Juliet cap of pearls. She carried a shower bou quet of rase buds and sweet peas. Miss June Jackson, the maid of honor, wore a smart gown of blue satin' and angelskln lace with blue accessories. She carried an arm bouquet of pink snap dragons and carnations. Paul Allen, brother of the bride, acted as best man for Mr. Hoffman. Chris Seeley, violinist, accom panied by Miss Barbara Barham played "6 Promise Me" preceding the ceremony and also played the wedding marches. Following the ceremony a re ception was held with the young couple, their attendants and par ents, receiving the guests Infor mally. Assisting about the rooms and in the ' serving were Mrs. Lowell C. Will and Mrs. Prank Wilcox. For her going away costume the bride chose a smart tan ensemble with brown accessories. Upon their return to Salem Mr. and Mrs. Hoff man will make their residence at 1335 North 19th street, which was formerly the home of Mr. Hoffman's parents who are moving to Yaki ma, Wn, to reside. The young couple will be at home to their friends after January l. Mr. Hoff man Is a member of the Ladd and Bush bank staff. War Mothers Have Program The American War Mothers met at the American Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon for an inter esting affair. A lighted Christmas tree with small gifts for charity was the feature of the decorative scheme. During the afternoon the committee of letter writers made their reports. The group enjoyed the singing of Christmas carols and hearing Mrs. A. A. Lee give a book review on "A Christmas Mystery" by William J. Locke. Mrs. Eliza beth Waters, president, gave the history of "Silent Night," beloved old Christmas carol. At the tea hour Mesdames Lee. Rauch, De Lapp, Keene, Mills and Nadon were in charge of the ar rangements. Dinner Party at Turner Turner Mr. and Mrs. V. N. Bones were hosts in their home Sunday with a Christmas dinner party for 83 members of the Bones family, for the second annual party to be held at their home. Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. M. Standifer and grandchildren, Raymond and Doris Lundeen of Fruitland, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Bones, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Scott and grandson David Scott, Mr. and Mrs. C. Mundinger, Mr. and Mrs. O. Hazelwood, Darwin Biwer, all of Salem, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Wyatt and children Nadine, Gordon and Elaine of Amity, Mrs. C. A. Bones, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Christmas decorations made the affair an unusually festive one and an interesting program was given with Dr. S. B. Laughlln speak ing on his experiences in Palestine during his residence there. Students Joy Turner Moses was hostess at a gay Christmas party Sunday af ternoon for her piano and violin pupils. The party was held at Mrs. Moses' studio, 335 North- Capitol street and is an annual event. A Christmas program was given by a group of the students and later musical games and contests were played. In the "musical terms" con test, Maxine Case was the winner and was presented with a prize. The studio was attractive with Christmas decorations and two lighted Christmas trees. Gifts were exchanged from one of the trees by Santa Claus in costume. Refresh ments in keeping with the holiday season were served at a long table and small tables, lighted by tall red tapers in silver candlesticks. Mrs. Margaret Montgomery assisted Mrs. Moses during the afternoon. Mrs. Ida Godfrey Dinner Hostess Mrs. Ida Godfrey entertained with her annual Christmas house party at her home on North Winter street Tuesday evening with about 30 guests bidden for the dinner and informal evening of dancing. A feature of the evening was the Christmas tree and exchange of gifts. Miniature Christmas trees and tall red tapers centered the long table. Fries-Bratcher Nuptials Solemnized Dallas Of interest to residents of this city is the announcement of the wedding Sunday in Portland of Miss LaVerne Brachter, daughter or Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Bratcher of McMinnville to Leslie H. P. Fries of Portland. The wedding took place in the rectory of St. Mary's cathe dral with Father Louis Sander of ficiating. Only immediate friends and relatives of the families were present. The bride was attired in gray Doone crepe trimmed in brown fur, brown antelope accessories and a smart brown turban to match. Her corsage was of orchids and lillies of the valley. The wedding breakfast was serv ed in the Rose room of the Benson hotel after which the couple left on ft northern trip embracing Seattle and Vancouver, B. C. Monmouth Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Santee and sons Harold and Don aid are on a motor trip to Califor nia to spend the holiday vacation with relatives. They will extend their trip into Mexico before re turning to Monmouth where Santee Is with the educational department of the Oregon Normal school. The long dinner tables were cen tered with miniature Christmas trees and other symbols of the holiday season. Later in the evening the group held a short meeting and program. The officers of the past year pre sented Mrs. Stella Henry, worthy matron, with a gift. Mrs. Henry presented her officers with a floral degree. Among those takmg part on the program were Dr. Leon Barrick, who led the singing of Christmas carols, and Lyman McDonald, who sang several solos. Contributions were made during the evening to the Christmas cheer box. The next meeting of the group will be held on January 3 when installation of officers for the com ing year will be held. None of the children of the violin class had played the Instrument before the fall school term began. Rebekahs Spend Gay Evening A cay evening was had by all Re bekahs and Odd Fellows and their families Monday evening when their annual Christmas tree party was given. The decorating and tree commit tee consisted of Lora Magcc, Flora Turnbull. Pearl Swanson, Dora Hill and Verda Ohnstead, and the pro gram committee Included Helen Mc- Leod, Anna Hunsaker and Eugenia Seigmund. Numbers on the program Includ ed a solo, by Aline Moored; piano solo, Jeanne Cladeck; violin and piano numbers, Barbara Schottleaf- er, Georgia Harrington, Alena Breni- mer and Emily Bremmer; Illustrated reading. Cohrs told the story of the first Christmas in Independence. This was followed by carol singing and other music arranged for the occasion by Mrs. J. O. Mcintosh. A Christmas tree, beautifully decorat ed, was laden with exchange gifts for the club house. Miss Myra Mont gomery, Mrs. Z. C. Kimball and Mrs. Henry N.
